I tried to submit to your guestbook, I'm not sure if it worked. Please test a new feature? https://win99.dev/jp

DOOM 99 (with cooperative play) is DONE (given the user provides their own .wad or image file). It is heavily based on DOOM 64 (with much better lighting and engine rework, WINDOOM and DOOM95).

Games working so far in MSDOS Neptune Build (upcoming release): SAM AND MAX, DUKE NUKEM 3D, DOOM II, DAY OF THE TENTACLE. Any requests for testing some other DOS games?

Features few asked for, but almost complete: MS-DOS support. Drag and drop a folder/zip (from your computer onto Desktop) of an old DOS archive and load it from C:\dos and with all luck, it loads (I've tested a few games to some success). Other coming features: full file system support and accurate C:\ Properties size management (the pie chart) based on your browser/computer's indexedDB allocation. And more...!

We've reached the first page of Neocities for view count ;'] Another big update coming (real DOS, command prompt, FULL filesystem functionality, improved drag/drop and mobile support). After that it's probably time to take a much needed break and focus on other stuff for a while! Don't forget to submit bugs if you run into them! Wishing everyone well.

I got a critique that MS-DOS in Windows 99 isn't really DOS. Time to dust off the cobwebs for resolving that...

Could you add MASH to this? And other msagent toys and editors? I can send you them all if you need. What's running this desktop agent, is this custom vbs or faked somehow? You willing to share your agent setup so I can add it to my Finffin?

Perhaps I like this, windows 1999. I am born in 2007, so I definitely don't know what does the 1999 looks like. However, I want to go back to that year...

I'll do another one of these since it's relevant to recent dev work for an upcoming release--The favicon! In March 1999, Microsoft released Internet Explorer 5, which supported favicons for the first time. Originally, the favicon was a file called favicon.ico placed in the root directory of a website. It was used in Internet Explorer's favorites (bookmarks) and next to the URL in the address bar.

Parsing favicons from 1999, 2000... their usage was quite rare. It appears that the adoption wasn't really incorporated until tabbed browsing came along 2002-2004 (to help distinguish tabs through iconography). Furthermore, early IE only looked at the server root (http://domain.com/favicon.ico), so individual user sites couldn't have their own favicons.

Today's Did You Know about those 88x31 banners: The size traces back to Netscapeโs 1995 Netscape Now! promotion, which rewarded webmasters for displaying an โauthorizedโ browser badge on their site. In the Wayback Machine, the website shows that the button appeared on Netscapeโs own site in 1995, and GeoCities picked up these in 1996.
