Well, the districts update is here! You might wanna clear out your cache before wading around our site just to make sure things aren’t funky. We also have new site buttons, and we recommend that you update your links to us to keep things consistent. It’s good to be back - we hope you enjoy the site as much as we do.

"districts has been taken control of by me and cheren. everyone in somnolescent themselves was pretty much done with districts, as far as i remember it was marked as a finished project in the server and shit like that." -neo (districts is still active me buttix /s)

on a more serious note, me and neo have lives outside of districts and frankly we're not obligated to get it done quickly in favour of university, commissions, moving house and employment. especially when neither of us even use neocities any more. lots of new art had to be made, the site recoded, new sites found, descriptions written, ect. we're literally almost done

oh, well i think the issue then was that it was more of "oh yeah we're being active of districts" and not "we're doing an update that's coming soon". but yeah no one's forcing you (hopefully not at least lol) to make a site that lists other sites in favor of your life. glad it's getting an update though. :)

we've been active behind the scenes! and we are gonna be more (visibly) active as soon as the redesign is done. apologies if it came across that way, neo did try to point out that we'd need to completely remake the site from the ground up though, i think we were hoping people would assume it'd take time.

'for now we're only doing a listings update but at some point i plan to rebuild and redesign the whole site, take off all the stuff of seb and somnolescent and rewrite a bunch of the stuff on it. we dont own seb after all, and districts is no longer a somnolescent project, i just cant be assed for now. so bigger updates will be coming in future.' damn.. if only someone had actually made that clear :pensive:

Districts is actally feel like a useful website for people who have no idea what Neocities is or want to look at different website. It sad that Somnolescent just left the project and just two of you only working on this. I wish you luck guys!

We’re sorry to say that no, we probably won’t be getting an Area51 or adding any new districts (for the time being, anyway). We add districts on a ‘need’ basis and find that for the moment we wouldn’t really have enough sites to warrant an Area51 or similar district and can sort them elsewhere.

We usually just comb through Neocities looking for sites ourselves. You're free to ask on our page, or point out a site that you think deserves to be here though. Rest assured, we'll get to checking out everyone who's commented on our page eventually.

We already have one, in fact! It's been posted in one of the various Neocities Discords a while back, but the rest of you will see him next update. (Or you can try and dig to find him.. It wouldn't be too hard!)

Just a little note to those who aren’t included on our listings but are either waiting to be added or curious about getting onto Districts - we add sites in bulk updates, not as one here and one there.

Hopefully the next update can be rolled out soon, but we’re currently more focused on the site rebuild. We have no current estimate for when this will be ready. Thank you for your patience, and of course, all of your support so far!
