Searching for "Jun Togawa" seems to be the best way to test a site's culture. If the site has content about her it probably has most things you could need. She's obscure and cool enough that you know there's organic life on there and that there's enough of it to be a site worth using, and that it attracts the right people (people who like Jun Togawa seem to be interesting people who do cool things, just like herself)

That's funny, I tend to do a Togawa search on the accounts of any new Japanese musician I like to see how deep they are into the whole neo-New Wave scene and the OG influences. If they haven't or have only mentioned the men important to the scene, I become a little sad

Yeah, but not mentioning Jun Togawa isn’t necessarily always a bad sign. But mentioning her is always a good sign.

The more I improve my games' technology the more it turns into C code (even if it's all Javascript). Not a shocker that the simplest technology, the technology that stands the least in your way, the technology with the least technology in it, leads to the best performance and the broadest compatibility.

I've said it before: Technology isn't anything in itself, it's a thing that makes way for other things. All unnecessary technology is - not surprising - unnecessary. Which means that the least cool, least trendy and least complex programming language with the least community and least things to discuss about, is the best programming language.

my friend who plays the most video games works at a defense contractor, developing Massive Murder Machines, since it's a low-stress job that allows him plenty of time to come home and game all evening

though i also know another guy from the forums i posted on that lived in a van, worked part time jobs or made money repairing old consoles and doing mods, and spend as much time as he could to playing the oldiest wonkiest nes games

i don't know if the second guy has attained anything approaching buddhahood, but i always admired him. since he actually played retro games on original hardware over and over rather than merely talk about CRTs (what most retro gamers do), he had all sorts of insights about the endless wonders hidden in these tiny pixel worlds

Now, if you were to make a composite of those two people, you would end up with something like Palmer Luckey's life. Lol Maybe a Buddha discouraged game playing because they can disconnect one from reality sometimes, in the same way that a drone weapon tends to remove one from the consequences of their own decisions. When you automate killing with a disposition matrix, you end up with Ellison's AM.

i messed up in a subtle way by essentially multiplying and dividing by the same FP number, which would sometimes result in a different FP number... a mistake that a scrub would make.
