the pitying stuff is funny i posted one "vent" blog post once (it wasnt really that bad) and someone messaged me like 3 phone screens worth of text talking about how bad they felt for me and it felt a bit weird and i deleted the post LOL... if you dont mind messages like that its fine, but i wish ppl knew that posts like those dont *always* need a response or words of comfort sometimes you jsut want to talk to a void

@lydels LOL yeah I kinda feel the same. In my case I received some very nice mail for sure but some were wayyy too infantilizing imo, it was as if I were a baby who's being comforted by her mom or something lmao. I know people wanna be nice but I can't lie I don't really like being treated like a poor sickly toddler Tbh

ooo neat to read feedback!! i've been peeping at it myself, but the yeah, the discord community is a very ... non-appeal to me as someone who is socially drained 99% of the time; neocities feeling a lot slower and more bare-bones w/socializing makes it easier for me to do things like ... me leaving a comment rn. but i did enjoy peeping thru to see ur thoughts on it

Yeah the community is what peeved me off of Nekoweb when I tried it out myself. At the time there wasn't a global feed, so I couldn't find community at all ahah. I tried joining the Discord server and had the exact same experience as you.

thanks a lot fro the feedback. I hesitated to move to Nekoweb because of several people sayin "neocities bad, leave neocities" and that one Reddit user that shits on anyone hosting on neocities. In the end I'm pretty satisfied with my NC, I'll probably stick with it unless the site closes.

i'm a fairly antisocial person. however, i have connected so easily with so many people here on neocities! so seeing how the community over on nekoweb basically revolves around a discord server and a specific aesthetic definitly dissuades me from hopping over there (not that i was anyways, though i did think about it.) regardless, it's always nice to see your updates over here still!!

Yet to read the entry but I honestly prefer any owner of a hosting service to be uninvolved/remote from its own community as possible. The elitism reeks of immaturity and discourages people from making mistakes in a hobby that's inherently trial and error.

@matchaprika I know exactly which Reddit user you're talking about LOLLL but there are barely any differences between neocities & nekoweb that makes it Absolutely worth it if you don't mind hosting unsupported file types in places like catbox etc so really, it doesn't matter because theyre just site hosts

Thank you for reviewing! I was curious about Nekoweb since I knew some NC people either moved there or use it as a mirror. I definitely got an impression of the userbase being much better, which put me off to it, though I had no idea that there was an element of snobbishness in the Discord. :x Guess that's not surprising because some folks are like that about the Twitter clones people choose to use.

@transferns, I'm actually the same way lol; I prefer comment boxes and am not as proactive about direct communication. I never liked chatrooms and Discord servers because they move too fast and there's too many people talking at once! I haven't always seen good sides of NC (TERFs, for example) but I like the ppl I talk to here and how low-scale the social media aspect is.

Also the website is pretty much mobile-friendly now! I couldn't include everything on the homepage but thats to be expected lol but at least the rest of the pages are accessible on a phone now (sorry tablet users)
