Just so you know, I plan on more book reviews in a bit, I think a have the perfect book to relaunch book reviews (The Pearl by John Steinbeck).
That’s great, although I passed you comment on to Toriaz who dislikes Steinbeck’s writing to the point that I can’t print here what she says about him. If it’s any consolation, she’s not fond of The Great Gatsby either. I never minded Steinbeck. Hope you enjoy it.
I've met one person from Singapore, he was a recent graduate who described his work experience of beating political prisoners as 'fun'. Hope you and Jenny will get to see another side of Singapore and report back soon!
Just arrived in Singapore late this afternoon. Haven’t seen anyone being beaten, thankfully. But I was told I would see no litter in Singapore and I am happy to report I found 5 pieces within a 50 metre stretch. It gave me a perverse pleasure I can’t explain.
I have Graves' Goodbye To All That on my 'to read' list but I didn't know the classical side of him at all. I don't know that I feel inspired to read this book, having read the review, but interesting nonetheless!
I’ve read some of his novels but not Goodbye to all That. Probably on my to do list one day. The Troy book seemed more aimed at summarising the whole Trojan tale without anything special to adorn its telling. But I can really recommend the Claudius books: really good.
I don't watch many horror films. Most of what I have watched is already on your site. One Cut of the Dead was a recommendation from my son which I enjoyed. I'm glad you liked it too!
