hi there! Regarding the acquisition of reading proficiency, my only advice would be to begin with short stories, work your way to plays and then attempt shorter novels before moving on to longer ones. this is process is neither easy nor quick. If short stories are still too difficult, i'd suggest newspaper articles b/c the hindi there is more straightforward than literary. Good luck :)
Can you recommend a specific short story? I've tried this before but ran into the issue of not enjoying the story due to low reading level and lack of depth.
well, for myself, i like socialist realism, so i'd take the easy way through and begin with Premchand's stories, or perhaps some Manto or Chughtai translated/transliterated into hindi/devanagari. For something a bit more contemporary, maybe try Geetanjali Shree or Omprakash Valmiki. i don't know what you like reading, so this is as far as my recommendations can go.
lovely website, i want to make a reading log aswell sometime soon
i see you have read novels in more than one language. do you have any advice for me, as someone who is verbally fluent in hindi but lacking in reading experience?
ps - i added your button
