I think this was very wonderfully written, and I share a lot of your opinions on this matter. There was a good quote I heard somehwere once, "People let their discomforts and dislikes become everyone else's problem". Instead of being reasonable and moving on from things they don't like, it clouds people's judgement and makes it right in their heads to send hate to people they deem as "bad".

That energy could be used elsewhere, somewhere more useful. There are a lot of bigger matters happening in the world, and people choose to instead use that energy for pointless online discourse.
