I always feel like the late 70's through to the mid 2000's is when the best films were made. There are some exceptions that have been produced since 2010 that have been good, but the range of films made is non-existent and special effects have taken over the plot and character building. I agree to a point, although I think great movies have been made in every decade. One of the most impressive movies I have seen in a long time is Babylon (2022 - at least it suits my tastes). My real point wasn't old movies per se, but an uncritical belief that originals tend to be better. I might have made this clearer had the 1950s movie been an original. It was just older. aren't as good as originals, too, but I can name a long list in which the sequel is almost universally regarded as superior. I got this topic in my head when I was writing the review for KSM because I saw a few instances where people said the 1950s version was far superior to the 1985 version. Fo reasons I gave, I didn't think that was true

That reading nook looks great, I'm very jealous. I can also relate to the struggle of trying to downsize objects that have acquired a lot of value
