Huge thanks to @psshaw for mentioning Neocities's more recent opinion (as of late Jan 2025) on generative AI in a Bluesky thread. It's good to know that while Neocities isn't entirely anti-AI, they have at least provided users the option to prevent AI crawling on sites. I might still have to switch web hosts if my art gallery can't hold any more images, but I'll worry about it if/when I actually reach the limit! Thank you everyone for the support!
I do want to point out that robots.txt is more of a friendly suggestion to AI bots, so it's not guaranteed that AI bots will respect the file. At least it's better than nothing!
