the number of times i used to go into someone's code because they asked me to add a youtube embed and THIS SHIT got poured right into my eyes. what the fuck am i supposed to do with that? and of course the one guy whose account could have mitigated all this diarrhoea code stopped maintaining the site months ago and is off working for firespring now

for this reason and the fact it's a zionist tech monolith/data scraper, absolutely fuck wix

honestly i should have been charging more for wix users. or really any plugin-based site builder. or static site generators in general. their code is always a mess. to say nothing of chatgpt's early attempts at webdev automation. i once saw chatgpt turn off a P tag 12 times and define a right margin of 1.92298374656738229494em

I actually used WIX one time when I was trying to reformat a fashion blog (this was over ten years ago). Never using it again.

neocities has some glaring holes in its ToS in regards specifically to ai scraping and its moderators banning practises. we asked for clarity and kd responded by making a superficial aesthetic change. so, i'm just concerned that neocities is also polishing a turd.

yeah, i don't mind a little tinker with the look on here now and then, but i would prefer that improvements to the service that are more important than aesthetics, ones like you mention, be prioritized

I wonder if this update was related to why I couldn't post long sentences for a while. Wow, the reply text really is small. Damn.

idk if it earns the name cause globally and functionally nothing changed. but it feels like another case of shufflign things up for the reason of just shuffling things up. highly unnecessary. my main beef is golden comment boxes (as if they are highlighted) and file browser no longer zebras the list view so it's harder to read it, cause these two are actually functionally hindering the experience, though not by much

i think it looks kinda cute!, altho i hope these changes stay superficial like joan rivers cheek surgeries but dont ultimately lead to death like joan rivers neck surgeries

Honestly I like the new design. But I agree with astrossoundhell about the missing zebras on the list view of the file browser.

anyway, i'm currently watching a plane taxi to leave chicago-o'hare for san francisco on a flight tracker site, being very glad i dont have to use chatbot-powered name brand firefox for that anymore.

"oh shit, they replaced the highway with a pig farm, didn't they?" sounds like a fucking loony toons bit 😭
since i linked to it, i decided it was time to update the formatting on that old ass blog post. incidentally, if anyone has a recommendation for an accessible distro that doesnt rely on systemd, let me know.
artix is pretty good. it's as easy to install as endeavouros and not much harder to use. i recommend using it with openrc because that seems to be the most documented/mature alternative init system, although runit is nice too.
tina i got you. antiX linux.
Also, since userdb.json's an editable json file that most distros don't fill in anyway, i was wondering what the legal implications are in america in case that json file is just empty. probably the same as if it doesn't exist, right?
Debian does in fact have official support for one systemd alternative: sysvinit https://wiki.debian.org/Init
I admittedly don't know much about, but IIRC you use Debian, and Devuan is a fork of debian without Systemd.
Oops just realized you mentioned that Devuan is broken, I should have done more research before suggesting! I just moved to fedora but am already thinking of trying VoidLinux after their weird ai comments / the systemd debacle, It does suck theres not more options for intermediate users.
