Some people confuse me when it comes to AI. There's artists who hate AI slop, who believe genAI for images shouldn't exist, but then go ahead and use it so much to help with homework. They claim it only assists them, but at the same time consider AI-assisted art still slop. As you know I'm heavily anti-AI, but the two-sided hypocrisy confuses me.

PSA: just because someone's in a no-ai webring doesn't mean they don't use ai. A user on here called hypercrites is one example. If you go to their site and visit their social page hypercrites.de, you find that multiple of their pfps on other platforms are ai-generated.

even some people in the no-ai webring have used genAI to make bits of their neocities sites. i blocked someone like that a couple years back. at this stage i think the no-ai webring is more of a follower attractant than a statement of personal principles.

it doesn't work. individuals try to use it to protect their media from profit-seekers. meanwhile, companies and corporations use it to claim intellectual sovereignty over all media that will ever be created, thereby undermining any benefits it might have for the individual.

All of you forget that copyright is supposed to give creators control over the distribution of their work. Abolishing it would just make it legal for others to profit off of your work or even use it in extremist campaigns, without you being able to do a single thing about it. And the big corpos? They'll just start stealing the work from small creators in broad daylight. Abolishing copyright will not shift the dynamic
