Hey solaria! I agree, actually I saw a case of data fudging and they got fired. But yeah, I focused the science page mostly on positive stuff because I don't wanna drag down the web with drama and sadness. I basically burned out and couldn't go on with it. There's a lot wrong with academia. I did really enjoy exploring the fields of psychology and neuroscience though. What area of chemistry did you study?
@pixelglade i didnt get far enough to get into a particular area, i was in my senior year of my chem degree and ended up dropping out because i couldnt see a future for myself in it. part of the problem was that i couldnt come uo with a research project. my gut feeling was to do something with colors, but i felt like i had so much to learn before i could come up with my own research
all research is effectively based on what came before, but colours sound really cool. totally understand not seeing a future in science though
Thanks for the tunes! Did reorganizing the navigation help with fully capturing yourself?
Well not fully (don't know if that's possible) but it helped balance some of the navigation I think to something where I can give greater emphasis to the music section which I plan on filling out a bit more in future! Find any songs/bands you like?
Reworking my site navigation categories helped me feel more comfortable with continuing my site in a way that better reflected more of my interests after feeling like Iβd painted myself into a corner. I hope you can find a way to make the sites work for you in a better way too.
Thank you, lostletters. So do I! Won't lie, I have been considering an overhaul of the sites and finding a way to merge them. Not sure if it's the smartest thing but I hate feeling digitally fragmented. Something simple like reorganising the navigation bar or altering a colour scheme or something like that could be a good compromise.
sometimes i'm tempted to delete my site and start again. i've done that several times actually - but now, i regret the writing and memories that i threw away. a change of site aesthetic can be a breath of fresh air for a site that has existed for a while. our personalities and tastes change faster than we can update our sites after all. my own taste has gone from gothic to more cutesy over the last few years.
i think this is the first time i've commented on your page even though you've followed me for a while - so hi!
Hi mirage-island :3 yeah websites are imperfect capsules of time but I guess that's why they're cool. I ended up reorganising the navigation and some of the sub-categories so I can give more emphasis to other areas like music
More commission related pages, still under construction, but I will make a proper update when they are finished. :)
Hey, thanks for the message! I love the peaceful design of your site and enjoyed your writing, especially your 'Science Hub' page :)

Great band. I've seen them 3 times in concert. I also played bass guitar in a rock band in high school with an amazing drummer who was totally into Rush so we played a bunch of their songs. He went on to play for a reasonably famous professional band.
What can this strange device be? When I touch it, it gives forth sound.
OMFG I wish I could have seen them in concert, but I only got on the bandwagon after they had retired and Neil Peart died :( Do you have a favorite song or album (I'm guessing you love 2112 too haha)?
Itβs got wires that vibrate, and give music What can this thing be that I found?
Do you have any recordings of your music / bass guitar? would be so cool to hear it
I think I first heard them on the radio with their Moving Pictures album. Unfortunately, I didn't really get to see them the first time in concert until their Power Windows tour. I love all of their music from Rush up through Signals, after that, not as much. They were always amazing in concert, though, no matter what album they were on tour for. One of the best sounding live bands I've ever heard.
Favorite song....I dunno, maybe Red Barchetta, Limelight, 2112, or this..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEuOoMprDqg
I don't have any recordings of our old stuff anymore. I wish I did but it's been years. We actually made a demo tape of three original songs our guitarist wrote the lyrics and guitar part for...then we each added our own parts. Don't have that either anymore. :( I've moved around a LOT in my life and possessions go their own way over time, lol.
Neal took alot of inspiration from dystopian Ayn Rand novels, which of course inspired me to read them. Anthem and The Fountainhead were my 2 favorites. Anthem is short, about 100 pages as I recall, and was the first one I read.
Oh, I almost forgot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Jm4LoOaAWI Take off, eh!
Xanadu is a great song! I ended up reading Anthem and The Fountainhead because of Rush too. I considered Atlas Shrugged but it is extremely long and I struggled through the second half of The Fountainhead because characters increasingly went on several page ranting monologues. It's a shame your recordings weren't saved - do you still play? Maybe you can make some new recordings. :)
Also I've had Take Off on repeat for awhile haha even though I'm not from The Great White North. Ten bucks is ten bucks!
No, I haven't played bass since maybe my first year of college. I sort of picked it up because I wanted to play music and that's what the bands I played in needed (bass players were always in short supply). But listening to people like Geddy Lee, John Paul Jones, Stanley Clarke, and others instilled a love of the instrument in me. It's something I wouldn't mind exploring again someday. Still, I've always been a bit
more into guitars - especially acoustic guitars. I have an old Fender that I dabble on occasionally. Even more than that, though, I've always been a singer, though never professionally. That's where my true love is. :)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0UeGt2DcPHk As a tangent, this guy makes some really in depth videos about songs and bands he finds extraordinary. Here's a list called "What makes this song Great?" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynFNt4tgBJ0&list=PLW0NGgv1qnfzb1klL6Vw9B0aiM7ryfXV_
I'm not from the GWN either, but it's a beauty, eh? :)
Thanks for the YouTube links, I'll check those out :)
