just testing some stuff, no visible changes here except for the nonsense scrolly box
on a side note, does anyone have any advice on how i can make links that jump to specific sections of my blog for my navigation bar? it's something i've wanted to do since i started my blog (like, links that take you to the start of each entry) but for some reason i can never get the code to work... ;w;
i'm using on the titles of my blog post and then trying to link them in my sidebar frame...maybe it's the frames that keep this sort of thing from working properly?
I think the problem might be because you're using just one iframe (I'm not that familiar with them, so I'm not a 100% sure, though). If the blog was built using regular old frames (or possibly two iframes) then the solution would be very easy, just have the links target the frame you want to open things in.
Although these days the use of frames is not really recommended in the first place.
I took a peak at your page source. In blognavi.html, change to: href="blog.html#December" target="_parent". In blog.html, remove the # in the anchor so it shows: id="December". I hope this helps!
thank you so much for trying to help me, everyone! ♥ ;w; it's much appreciated! sadly, still haven't managed any progress--it feels like the answer should be simple, but i think @anipike has the right idea...i'm being screwed over by my use of frames, lol. i'm gonna have to rethink this idea.
It looks like in blognavi.html the 'blog entry 1' link needs to be changed like thisoldrecliner said and everything should work then; I just tested it myself by downloading the pages and messing with the source code.
wow, what a discussion. I don't usually see that many comments on Neocities posts. I'm glad I found this website.
thank you!!! I followed this tab tutorial: https://www.w3schools.com/howto/howto_js_tabs.asp
this is basically the code for my log but simplified. I'm not really good at explaining things, but I added some notes in the code that's hopefully helpful https://turd.neocities.org/tab%20note.txt
thank you so much dude! i appreciate the timt you took to reply, ima try dis out later c:
Happy birthday! :) I've turned the Big 25 ....er....quite a number of times. ;) Whatever you do, DON'T grow up. It's for chumps. lol :)
i was interested in geocities around november-december 2017 and i had many web site design ideas so i make my first account here which is deleted now. i found neocities on... wikipedia, it was linked on geocities page
I wanted to show a person in discord my project and realized it didn’t work so he showed neocities amd boom
I'd actually known about Neocities since 2014 (I made a really bad account at potassiummcr.neocities.org and I never got back to it.) I decided to make another one that was better because I was interested in it. This was around September 2017. My old account was deleted, and I made a very angry blog post about it, but it's on the Wayback Machine if you want to embarrass me.
i was obsessed about 90s internet and dead sites. i wanted to have a place internet, so i gave it a go. my original url was full of unecessary hypens and embarrassment. over several months, i’ve made many redesigns. i remember when i had those gifs. ( ゚д゚)
quite honestly, i found neocities through people's twitter about pages, after everyone got tired of twpf and listography. i'd always loved making websites from neopets and then tumblr though, so it was just easier to make a website on neocities instead of cheating and hosting it on tumblr.
I think I just found it on Google and decided to make a site in 2015. Later in 2016 I was into old Geocities sites and I remembered Neocities so I created coolman. Then for like a billion times I moved sites and I'm in (hopefully) my final form of jackomix.
to trapped: yeah, I remember "trapped-inside-da-web" and where you put the bear .gif on the front page. sorry if that's bringing unwanted mems... just saying.
i got really into geocities websites all around 2017, got bored in class one day and was looking for web hosts that would let me write my own pages. and there was neocities!
A friend had a site that looked very cool and HTML didn't seem too hard, so I joined on Janaury 1st 2018 and since then have made several changes to my site. Have had a great ride so far and met a lot of cool people here!
well i was bored one day and i decided 2 make a website, but i didnt want one of those "drag and drop" sites, so i found neocities from a wikipedia article comparing different free hosting services, and i was like "wew neocities seems pretty rad"
I wanted to learn html but quickly lost interest. Not for the site though. That's why it's so primitive.
I have used a lot of webshosts in the past, but all of them were drag and drop BS, IDK how I _really_ found out about Neocities, I must have just been looking around online for good webhosts
Basically it was 2015, and was pissed that there were a lot of dead geocities links to the places I was trying to visit, so in my research and travels, I found out about not one, but two websites. The first one was geocities.ws, which looked cool as a geocities paritial archive.. but kinda shady as a hosting service (I was practicing HTML for coding competition back then, so hosting was a plus), but then I saw neo...
...neocities. It looked nice, had a blossoming community of cool websites, and was really inspiring and cozy. So I jumped right on in. Like owlman I did/do have other sites. Before neocites I "ran" a blog on wordpress, a games website on webs, and a few HTML websites using dot.tk domains (I got in there before spammers/hackers found out about it) and Google Drive hosting. After google drive killed the hosting...
Neo just seemed like the best option for testing, building, and just overall shenanigans (no ads or overlays!!!! BIG PLUS). So I jumped right in! (sorry for the long msg lol)
I used to write on wordpress and I got tired of the ads and the rigidity of the free themes and how the entire layout trashed when I tried looking at it in a text-only browser like lynx. plus, I wanted to make things like my 'weirdiverse' (basically website shitposts) and wordpress doesn't allow for custom html or css :(
new homepage for like the....4th time...I always end up hating how they look weeks later anyway hopefully this one will be the *one*
also updated the index for the concert diary, and added a list of upcoming shows
still making little cosmetic changes around my site...i've added some new friends to my links page~ thanks so much to everyone who's added my button! ♥♥♥
Thank you so much~! Those were taken by my boyfriend during a camping trip at Lost Maples. It's a very beautiful and well-kept park. I love it so much. <3 Also, sorry it took 3 weeks to respond. I've been neglecting my website for awhile.
Lolol nevermind. I forgot I had an album titled 'Lost Maples'. The 'Summer '18' album was in fact taken by me, at a park near where I live.
Thank you very much! I plan on getting the rest of the site finished real soon but I am glad to hear you're looking forward to it!

oh geez...seems you're right...i haven't the slightest clue why. how worrisome... :\ i don't know css very well, but the sensitivity of the buttons is kind of weird--even in Chrome and on Opera you have to click directly on the text for them to work. i'll consider going back to old-fashioned links, i think. thanks for the heads up, much appreciated! ♥
Put the anchor tags on the outside of the button instead of on the inside.
or use onclick to redirect.
HTML specs don't seem to like the idea of a link inside of a button, but, like quokka says, you could put the button inside of the anchor tags(even if it does work on Chrome). See here -> https://stackoverflow.com/questions/41275537/why-firexfox-and-ie-cannot-open-a-link-anchor-inside-a-button-button-tag You could also just ditch the button tags and style the anchors to give them the same look.
Buttons are really meant to be used if you're attaching them to a Javascript onclick event. But that would be complicating things more than is necessary for a page link...
