When did mud2 go free? I looked around on the forums and saw ppl talking about making it free to drive up player numbers... in 2006. When did they actally go through it? I sent them an e-mail but never got a response I think their mail server is down or smth

To be honest with you, I have no idea. It looks like the .com instance (the Canadian one) went free in 2006, but I have no idea when the .co.uk instance went free. And honestly I have no idea how long it takes Foddy (the guy who runs the .co.uk instance) to respond to emails, so your best bet might be to ask one of the Wizzes for a hand with that.

Multi-User Dungeon (or MUD1) was pretty much the OG MMO (MUD2 is a _slightly_ updated version of MUD1). It's entirely text-based, permadeath, no microtransactions/DLCs, and is completely free to play nowadays, with instances at http://mudii.co.uk (hosted in the UK) and https://mud2.com (hosted in Canada) - I play on the mudii.co.uk instance myself.

If you want to hop in and try it, the simplest method is via https://mudii.glitch.me (an in-browser client for the mudii.co.uk instance), you can just hop in as a guest or go to http://mudii.co.uk to actually make an account (so you can actually do the MUDding). Granted, I'd suggest actually installing a MUD client (such as Clio or using Mudlet with the MUDKIP_Mud2 package) to get a much more user-friendly experience

Hello! I noticed you said you contributed the new editor, have found a problem with it. The colours of everything besides comments/non-syntax-highlighted text are all identical in each of the non-high-contrast light/dark themes (all dark themes have grey angled brackets, dark blue tag names, light blue tag param names, orange tag value strings, etc). [poor phrasing bc in hospital and on strong painkillers so :p]

Ah, I think I found what the culprit might be. https://github.com/brijeshb42/monaco-themes/issues/17 (I'm assuming he's used this Monaco Themes thing, which has been reported to not work with HTML, and to this day still does not work with HTML)

is it just me, or do all the non high/contrast light/dark themes in the new neocities editor look virtually identical to anyone else? Like in all the dark themes, tag brackets are all dark grey, tag name in dark blue, tag parameter names bright blue, tag value strings orange... *EDIT:* it's been reverted for now, see https://github.com/neocities/neocities/issues/543

I really need to work out how to implement a theme for the new editor as well, seeing as the Draculuhh theme I made as an override for the old editor is no longer usable (seeing as the new editor uses completely different clientside css). And the new editor's clientside CSS is proving more difficult to decipher, not sure if using Stylus to override the theme will be entirely possible this time.

unfortunately the new editor monaco uses json based themes so its not as simple to do css injection, however there is good docs on how to make monaco themes online and you could probably inject it that way or open a PR on the neocities github to get it added :)

Hey so fun fact if you're going into hospital overnight for anything consider bringing a sleep blindfold with you, can't completely turn off room lights, and I'm just waiting to pass out from exhaustion at this point seeing as I ain't gonna be able to naturally doze off with that lighting up the whole room when I'm trying to get some gosh darn sleep before my procedure damnit

basically I'm having a pleurectomy at Some Point today on my left lung to hopefully stop that lung from having any more pneumothoraces (and then in a few weeks I'm supposed to be having the same procedure done on my right lung). really not looking forward to the recovery period.

Well I've had the procedure done and I now have a tube in my side (again) and am in a state of pain and discomfort and having an incredibly dry throat (and idk if these painkillers are doing much at all)

thanks everyone. got some sleep, doing alright today, just had the morphine drip removed (ngl the cannula for that was rather uncomfortable anyway), still a bit high from the morphine, but still got the chest drain though. things looking promising overall. throat still dry but overall slowly starting to feel a bit more human

In all honesty, I have no idea why it's held on thursdays either - but they've apparently been held on thursday evenings since Ye Olde Days. Used to start at 9pm, but recently we've been trying 8pm - but I guess they might be up to try fridays if you mention it to the others.
