About your blog post on stealing the entire code and you mentioning not understanding the reason. I was talking to a friend some time ago about something similar. I think the phenomenon comes from low tolerance to being mediocre. People come to neocities, they know nothing, they see some awesome designs, they can't deal with arriving somewhere and being "the only" mediocre person there. They want to be awesome (cont)

... without putting the time and effort for that. What matters is not learning and gradually developing a hobby or skill. No, what matters for them is appearing to be awesome from the get go. I think social media aggravated that feeling of having to appear amazing, and being ashamed of being mediocre or starting out.

i mean yes, i know where it comes from and i agree with you but its still sad. i think stealing code, especially on community like this, is just pointless. i have nothing against people who use ready-to-use code, changes texts and images etc as example, they still express themselves. but just blatantly stealing code won't get them anywhere here. hard to believe they get any accomplishment out of doing so.

Every time I'm rebuilding the site I forgot to uncomment "custom-menu.js" which I'm commenting out during coding (bc I'm using the right click for developer tools) and because of that I have to re-upload the whole website every time, lol :D *I should make it work like if (!LOCALHOST) {} or something :D

i just read the hate comment on the guestbook and now im so upset for u. regardless of my opinions about ai i just feel like that was so unnecessary and mean of them to say and also condescending. your site is not ugly.

thank you for that! I appreciate it <3 (I also replied you in the guestbook). I can understand that comment, what he is trying to say and maybe he got some sad happening with ai art thats making him upset. But you are right, it is unnecessary to screaming that to the void. Guestbook should be a place where people are nice to each other :) Like if he doesn't like it, he can just leave.

i mean, i'm an artist. art never really made me any money ever. i have family members in tech and most tech companies use ai these days, its the industry standard. i wish datacenters were environmentally friendly tho. honestly search engines have been using algorithms for 30+ years now. ig's search uses ai too. i think it's misunderstood. i fear people would cancel me for not being negative enough but

It's a mean message, but I don't really see it as a hate comment. Just an artist that is really disappointed and honest about it. As an artist that is leaning more and more into tech world, I feel like both worlds has much different experience with AI. While in coding, AI has been really useful (sometimes really annoying bc of bosses), in art world AI is just a big backstab for us and is used more to exploit us

than anything else. Lots of us have been escaping mainstream media just to see genuine human art. I had a feeling your graphics may be ai generated, but kinda dismissed this feeling. So yeah I feel kinda mixed about it knowing now for sure. I really like your website and what is in it and I don't want to come across as negative, but I would be dishonest if I said that part of me didn't kinda feel this comment
