We have a VCR that is used regularly in my house, along with a decent collection of VHS tapes. Trying to move away from streaming as much.

Hey oopsiedoodle thanks so much for dropping by and glad I am not the only one who is still interested in VHS tapes. I have nothing against streaming per se, but since I block DRM google monitoring it's tricky to stream. But definitely hope it works out for you :)

Normalmente no hablo nada de la politica en linea sin embargo queria decir que me siento absolutamente destrozada por lo que acaba de pasar en tu pais. Imagino que hay mucho miedo de lo que puede resultar de esto y mis pensamientos estan con uds. Aunque vivo en eeuu y entonces esto lo han hecho en mi nombre, de todos modos yo personalmente condeno esta accion y espero que tenga paz en los proximos dias. Lo siento!!

My only memory with having access to VHS player at my house was when I was like 4 and my older sister rented Rush Hour 1. No idea what model that VCR was and happened to it. As soon as a DVD player was bought, we were exclusively using all sorts of disc formats except bluerays and we played them a lot! It's the undistructible Samsung 'DIGITall' type of DVD player that's still works after about 20 years!

I guess I don't have any nostalgia for VHS casettes because sadly I don't have any recorder family tapes so there's nothing to go back to, but damn if I got some I would absolutely bought the best VCR I could find and recover them all. Also during my times VHS cassettes already seemed very outdated and CD, VCD and then DVDs were all the rage.

The idea that some movies and shows are only available in VHS is terrifying tho, titles like this are especially worth preserving!

Hey lankarta-project thanks for dropping by and sharing your personal experience :) Yes to be honest I like disc format. When DVDs first came out I was skeptical, but nowadays I really enjoy watching movies on my DVD player. However I still look forward to some VHS nostalgia though LOL.

Buying even a tiny patch of land next to major cities in Poland is out of reach for people with regular salaries, sometimes even garages cost as much as the entire houses used to cost. In villages with reasonable distance by car to the middle sized cities it's quite common to build new houses, those are the only regions where single houses are being built. I know a bunch of people that made it within few years

For me, it'll take a decade or so to even consider buying a land, I'm a apartment dweller for many years to come :p

Also there are some proposals of laws that will allow to build limited sized houses (something like up to 70m2, one storey) without permits, but it's probably possible in municipalities without compehensive land planning, I dunno, it's still complicated

Not exactly what you're asking for, but my husband's family bought 5-10 acres of land and currently have three tiny house cabins placed there. They run on generators. We stay there sometimes. It's not bad, but the lack of plumbing is not my favorite lol

Whooaa, those rail car things look super fun! The closest one to me is sadly a few hours away in Iowa. But it looks really cool. I'm totally inspired to make it happen one of these days
