Nope, it is fine. I miss the days of A.D.V, Manga Entertainment, Tokyopop, Viz, 4K!DS, DiC, Nelvana, Geneon, Saban and Media Blasters (who are still around) all competing for anime titles, even if their adaptations were never always the best. With the monopoly, subtitles are probably going to get worse and some anime will become unobtainable.
Hey, please let me know if this disappears, too! I tried the direct post, and it went away, and then the comment one did, too- my post about the unicode hearts on my own profile was kind of a test. I kind of liked the goofy character designs, though, and the weird tonal/content shifts had a definite vibe. I have a soft spot for wonky OVAs, though. I respect something that really goes for it, even if it fails. Plus, I
didn’t know a thing about what it was going to be and almost spit-taked cranberry sauce across my craft table at “wow, I did not have ‘giant dominatrix explodes a schoolgirl’s guts out the top of her head’ on my OVA bingo card at all, but that’s anime, baby”
That being said, I kind of like Nora, too? The first would be unremarkable on its own, but Twinkle Nora is off base to such an unconventional degree, in terms of story, animation, all of it, that I think it made the first retroactively more interesting to me. I don’t think it’s good by any means, but sometimes it’s better to be fascinating than it is to be competently made.
Still ongoing. Money, pride and reputation are all at stake for something that I believe is frankly hedonistic. I am supposed to get a partner (specifically, a girlfriend) in a week and a half and spend a further week and a half together. It came from a joke somebody made about me never feeling a women's touch (not even my own mother's) and then it spiraled into a bet that I was told to get into. If I lose, I owe...
... a manga volume to the person who made a bet with (of a series which reflects his lecherous tastes [Nagatoro, Monster Musume, Dragon Maid, were his picks]). This deal was returned, but if I win, he is going to be broke beyond compare (going to pay every of some big Omnibus or Box Set).
To be completely honest, if I was in that situation, I would probably just take the L. A relationship founded upon on a bet seems painful for everyone involved. Physical affection means nothing without mutual compatibility, and it is better to be alone than in a relationship without true caring...That's just my opinion though. Whatever you choose to do, I hope everything works out for the best!
@letslearntogether Agreed, though somebody did hint attraction to me, however, I do not want to read too much into that, since I would shy away from such assumptions.
To add, she said she liked my personality out loud in class. I quite like her as well (and told some other classmates about it), but did not want to pidgeonhole myself to a certain timeline and I easily drop such ideas too. I likely will take the loss, unless "I fake it until I make it", but I might give the idea a try, but most probably only so far as to have conversation.
If that somebody has the courage to say they like you, and you have clear interest in them, take the plunge and get to know them better.
In the last message you said that Gunbuster was overrated compared to other mecha series. I've seen Gunbuster and Eva, and I was wondering what series were being neglected. Give me a rec for a mecha series that might have gone under my radar, preferably something that I can watch pretty casually.
@madville I will give you two recommendations based on how dark of a series you want. If you are looking for a mecha series that is dark and emotional, then watch Densetsu Kyojin Ideon, more commonly known simply as Ideon, it have widely been recognized for its visuals and storytelling and is believed to have inspired Neon Genesis Evangelion in many ways. The other series is Yuusha Ou GaoGaiGar, which really picks...
... up in the second half of the series. The Yuusha series in general is considered a spiritual successor to Transformers, so this may serve as a good gauge for what to expect the series to be like.
a nice action show that gets your heart pumping? ive watched jojo's bizarre adventure and one punch man's first season and i loved both of them a lot! also hoping for something pre 2010
@digital-devil Cool robots you say? Maybe you should try Red Baron an anime about a robot fighting tournament. Looking for a good vs evil story with many twists and turns? Then try The Big O or Gun x Sword.
@pklucky Have you seen Hokuto no Ken, it seems to fit the bill for everything that you want. Other series include Golden Kamuy and Baki (both are more recent). I would additionally recommend the manga for Baoh, since the anime is not that good, unless you are looking for a laugh from comical dub lines (no subtitles available to my knowledge).
To clarify, AkiDearest is a reviewer looking to please people, whether it is anime, manga, figures or other merchandise. Not to actually review the product in question. This is why she has distanced herself away from anime and manga and has focused herself on stores and purchasing figures and the like, as well as stating that OnlyFans may soon become her main form of social media.
Needless to say, she is just another anime reviewer who has degenerated into something that many wish to avoid: a pushover, to say the least. That is not to say that she is the next Mr. Anime (yes, I remember his channel, please do not do what he did), but still someone who is best avoided to be associated with. I am but a mouse compared to her channel, but I hope to be the mouse who roared.
Ive never heard of her, what channels do you reccommend? Ive heard of kenny lauderdale, i really like obscure stuff.
Kenny Lauderdale and that is about it. I would recommend ThatAnimeSnob if he was not so coarse in his language (very brash and has a "-t**d" series that has been going for many years now). That is about it, really, Mother's Basement is inconsistent, Chibi is also a heretic (hates My Hero Academia, but loves all of the associated tropes) and Cuchallain deleted his channel. Those are all I know.
Steak Bentley only has like 3 anime reviews on his channel but his review of Ping Pong: The Animation is one of the best I've ever seen so I remembered his name.
Never heard of his channel, just looked at it and good stuff.
