I missed work today due to physical exhaustion, so I tried to set up a deployable Git repo to make uploading/deleting images easier. I couldn't understand the instructions and just stopped.

I've alluded to this before, but I'm going to get into it again. I don't think I'm going to update this site as much as I did 2-3 years ago. The elephant in the room is obvious. Years ago I had multiple friend groups and a partner to motivate me, I don't have that anymore. After I lost that I was thrust into a family-financial issue and I'm juggling trying to make offline friends and work full time.

I'm this close to giving up on the former, honestly. I have a hotel room reserved for a con in June, but I'm so fucking tired of life and various bullshit, I went back to social media. And not gonna lie, this community often irritates me so much. It discourages me to work on a site I have little physical energy for and only 3 people will see.

Having a zoomer spiel onto an unrelated status update last month and getting schizo emails convinving me to delete my site and get into crypto reminded me why I stopped checking here. (Don't tone police me, I don't care.) And I'm also tired of pretending my last relationship ended on good terms when it fucked me up. It's nobody's problem but mine, but it's another reason I avoid NC.

I'm turning off profile comments for awhile because it frustrates me and I don't like how the activity feed is diet Twitter. The guestbook and email is open but I'm slower to respond and less patient for random soapboxing. It's frusting how much I self-censor only for other people to mindlessly rant at me.

Thank you for the book recommendation! I wanted to read more books on ADHD but there's just so goddamn many from so many different years trying to prove so many different points, it was just totally overwhelming. ADHD nation looks to be what I'm looking for!

I came out of the book with a whole new conclusion about the disorder itself. The book is very sad at times and could use a new edition to discuss ADHD post-pandemic but it completely blew my mind.

I know I also promised a new page, but I haven't had time to finish it. I'm not the same person I was when I fell in love with Neocities 4 years ago. I have two drafts that are over 1k words and finishing either is like pushing a boulder over a hill.

it will take years and it will be slow. (if it does happen) people dont want to change, ive noticed people who hate elon musk that still use twitter. I see people who hate tumblr but use it anyway. Not a single one of these people have had the idea to move or make their own sites nor do they want to. It'll be slow, and it when it does happen people are going to be very unhappy about doing it. I love it, personally.

Why insisit on using social media anyways? If they cant follow you onto your own site are they truly fans of your work? Ive seen people switch to (starting from) deviantart, tumblr, twitter, bluesky, newgrounds, ect. All for their posts to be flooded with random reposts or tangents. I like myself a tangent. This the way im doing it, everyone else could, too. And for people who are creating anything? They do not care. They will not care, if they did, they would've created something already. Something big will happen that will force everyone out of these sites, and the mess will not be fun. It is for the greater good. I am hopeful but i do not see it happening soon. Neocities needs longer comment limits.

I'm in the camp of using sites I dislike and it's mainly because it's where an actual community is. I get what you're saying but I don't really agree and even wrote my own "piece" about it. i agree with ur post/page but i think you misunderstood my point, not saying for people to go to obscure sites (i cant even find any) im saying make your own, foster your own community. I agree, jumping to site is annoying and does not work. But if your main hub is someone elses social media site, what are you going to do if it gets deleted? Your fans and everything will be gone, you have no back up.

This section is not good to hold an actual conversation but I don't agree with you. Frankly a short blurb wasn't the space for a rant from a complete stranger. Because I've also mentioned how difficult it is to try to build a community by myself, get people to make websites, etc. and nobody jumping on board.

Putting your eggs in one basket is the real issue. I have a site as an archive or creative sandbox and have some socmed sites to talk to people, because I want to be in communities instead of working on a page 3 people will see and not join in. i've SOMEHOW never had guinea pigs but degus make some similar vocalizations and it's adorable! they can be snuggly like rats, although that's less common even if they're still friendly. on average, they live a lot longer than rats, which is a major plus point. i can't begin to count how many times rats have broken my heart. ;__; degus are a lot less stinky than rats but they're also a lot messier, lol

to compare degus' longevity with rats: the oldest degu i had (Chappu) lived to about 8 years old. Deanna's about 6 now. Diego and Charlie were the most rat-like in temperament, but ironically and sadly the similarities even extended to both of them each suddenly dying young (≤2 years), but i suspect that was bc of genetic fuckery due to inbreeding. :<

The short lifespan of rats is why I can't have another :( Too much heartbreak in a short span of time. My late piggy lived to 5 years. I'm glad some pet rodents can live a decently long time.

I'm considering just leaving it online but "delisting" it, or even moving it to a different site somehow. But I've also felt frustrated navigating social spaces online and offline again and it might be worth returning to as an outlet to share "heterodox" thoughts.
