ohmygosh yes, this. as much as I adore "Heart Attack" it's nowhere near as queer as it seems on the surface, which makes me sad. 😭 (not that that stops me creating a narrative in my mind that it's honestly Queer As Heck, but alas, reality. so unfair.)

not gonna comment too much cuz i'm a dude but one thing i would say is that i feel lyrics aren't always related to the overall story they're trying to pull off. more than anything, they want their shit to sell so that's likely why every song is about love in despite the videos. though, i can agree with this in many ways about childish imagery. but man, if i want an lgbt korean video i'd rather just watch 159cm.

I really tried to ignore The Signs and just focus on the cuteness of the video, but it's so blatant! And what you do sounds great!! I have no creativity, so I cannot make up something for it, but! If you ever decide to share that narrative somewhere, I'd love to see it!

@Cheren, it's okay. And yr right, this is pop music after all and they're just trying to be marketable! I don't want to look to deeply into it, but I still think it's necessary to take into account the lyrics of the songs (as generic they may be) to get the full picture. Also, I love 159cm but yeah... "Being gay is suffering". I'd like to see something mundane. A silly cheerful song about having a crush, but gay!

also a guy but i agree with your statements, and they're also probably right because i'm certain k-pop companies try to market to certain audiences (like "Heart Attack" catering to LGBT audiences, especially lesbians) and while I love the idea that Chuu & Yves are in love, it's not exactly realistic, especially seeing the circumstances (contd.)

and I'd rather see genuinely gay action than a commercialized representation of it to cater to a fan's or critic's wants... and I also agree with what viian/cheren says about it to: Visuals play a lot in the story of the song, not just lyrics. Also BBC probably wants you to buy their albums/songs/videos/merch/tickets/et cetera, so they are probably going to make the songs about love & romance & pursuit of the former
