I literally never make posts here but this got me angry enough - divsel keeps following and unfollowing me like a bot every once in a while. He does the same with liking posts as well but I guess he noticed it's too obvious. Super annoying, imagine if we all did that, there wouldn't be much use for follows and likes anymore, now would there? Sick of this spammy behavior...

I liked his site and I ended up unfollowing and blocking him for this, but I still get the follow-unfollow cycle from him.

Unlike Federi and that mentally unstable teenager he does have a site with substance and isn't harassing anyone, so I don't think he should be "banned" but I wish using (what I think is) a script wouldn't be allowed here. Go back to Mastodon or Tumblr if you want to farm followers for visibility this bad.

yeah i agree it's unnecessary for him to get banned, but this kind of advertising is so annoying because it's exploiting a system we're all civil enough to follow and not abuse zzz

in his latest post he laments the presence of social media features in neocities, the exact features he is abusing. he also is a self-professed "true nihilist", so maybe this is all some elaborate scheme to emphasize the internal contradictions of neocities and hasten its collapse

incredibly weird behavior... i read his recent article about "the decline of neocities" but he seems to be the one actively making the social aspects of NC more annoying to use than normal...

@saddleblasters @moonview yeah it seems hes generally disheartened by neocities but like come on bro you dont have to make it worse for those of us that enjoy the limited social features it does have. tbh if likes and follows got turned off tomorrow id survive just fine but as it is i like follows as a passive way of finding new interesting sites without my usual last updated trawling

He's being incredibly rude doing this to get attention on a web hosting platform. I usually say if you want more eyes on your site make a better site. But his site's already decent, so what's his deal??

Blocking him does nothing either, I know of someone who has him blocked because of this and his script still targets their profile.

I wish that blocking someone on here meant they couldn't re-follow you. It surprises me that it doesn't work that way.

A trick I learned out of curiosity: if you unblock him, then reblock, it removes him again from your followers. You have to do this manually each time. It's only a temporary trick until he runs the script again but it makes me feel better to remove his name lol.

@irony-machine: i would hope this is the case but why wouldn't he make it obvious he was doing so? without that context it just comes off creepy and borderline stalker-ish...

@moonview i agree with you on that, he could be testing on accounts of his own and not bother anyone. hell, the github issue message he wrote mentions it being a problematic behavior.

It's great you want to change your living arrangements as soon as you find the means. It's for the best for your wellbeing. You deserve to live better so I'm glad you found a goal to work towards. Your Mareep is adorable. You have an artistic gift and felting is super underrated. I'm sorry you grew up in that kind of environment... it's fucked up when we realize look back on those kind of experiences as adults, you know? Nobody should make you feel that way for being a normal human being. You (and everyone else) have inherent worth as human beings, don't forget it!
I'm pretty awful at helping with advice for things, but what you're going through reminds me of my own experiences that I had until my mids 20's. It was so freeing to finally move out, even with how hard it is to afford anything. You seem to be handling everything with such a level head, you don't deserve to be around so many people that make you feel irrational. My heart really does go out to you, genuinely.
Also I think we took shelter from the same tornado lol! I'm also in tornado alley, the sirens went off so I grabbed my cat and we hung out in my tub lol since that's the only safe place we had. It was a little nerve-racking!
i'm so sorry to hear you've had to go thru all that, but i'm always super happy for people when they finally realize that a lot of their problems came from harsh environments instead of themselves!!! it's always difficult to heal but it's always worth it. i hope you can make a safer space for yourself soon!
