I think that Firefox has a thing that will stop auto-playing audio on websites, I can't be asked to see if it's on by default, but it's very useful
As a webmixter, there is something attractive about the idea of adding another of the five senses to my arsenal of ways to enhance the Surfing Experience™ — but to be honest, even when it's implemented well and not just some random nightcore track the webmaster likes, i almost always find myself reaching for the mute button. It's an accessibility problem, too. It makes it harder to hear a screen reader, and anyone with sensory sensitivities is going to have an issue with it.
