yeah, it's most certainly ai crawlers scraping our websites for their slop machines. i'm not sure how come kyle not have done anything about it, i'm starting to feel like even neocities is not the internet i dreamt of. sad shit

In all honesty, I don't think you should rely on a singular website of being the internet you dreamt of. The internet I dreamt of is being a sprawling chaotic mess of individuality, covered on many corners of the web. That's the web I grew up with. Just like Geocities when it was still alive, it wasn't the only thing on the web. Shit, I remember old Angelfire sites, and self-hosted sites.

@tsugato i don't see logic. NC is a hosting with additional (barely relevant) features. A hosting first and foremost, for people to run their own unique separate sites on. Are you saying i should instead pay for 5 hostings and run 5 different websites for whichever reason? I think a better solution is to at least attempt preventing crawlers from abusing this one hosting, which is supposedly what i pay for.

Neocities is not a "website". it's literally a "hosting" with *a bit* of "social networking" screwed on top of it, which at least i barely use. I see it as a perfect middle ground solution for user-made web, but now the AI bots are making my site unusable. How is this a problrem of using a popular hosting? Diversifying my choices will do jack shit, not like neokweb etc aren't scraped. This crap is everywhere.

I'm not saying you should be running 5 hosts or jumping ship from Neocities. I was just pointing out how the old web was more fragmented, which gave it resilience. I totally get the frustration with the current wave of AI trash scraping everything, we're on the same page there. I just don’t think Neocities alone can carry the dream of a better internet if it gets bottlenecked by this kind of bullshit.

Also, I agree 100000000% on the fact, that Neocities should be preventing any sorts of AI scraping. It messes with a LOT of SHIT.

added my pride weekend fit. it's been so long since i wore actual not-lazy decora!!! i wish i could stop working and live life a little bit more. I'm also nearly done with neomanager, so soon enough i will be redeploying this gallery and the kandi museum with that -- maybe then i will post more stuff, since it's gonna be more immediate...

Stability shit + logging/checksumming added. The tampered saves can still be forged back into "clean" ones, though - try to do that if you wish for a small challenge!

Oh, also now save files are LZ-compressed and take waaaay less space than the b64 overhead hell it was before, even with logging and all. It's insane how much a good compression algorithm can do. Obviously, the implementation of THIS thing is by someone else, i'm no good with complex algorithms.

This is a collage generator (hence collagen) WIP. It's not linked anywhere on the site because it's a buggy piece of flaming garbage for now, but it sort of works already, so go have fun if you'd like to. i already made a stupid pink Amy Rose collage in it, nice. It craps itself when rendering online-hosted files though.

Remembered that internet is for having fun and doing whatever and decided to make a Splatoon page! It's somewhere between a shrine and a personal corner. Pretty happy with how the visuals turned out! I want to add more stuff, but i'll do that later - too excited to postpone sharing, to exhausted to work on it more :'D

I started on it because actually i want to write short music reviews. But, you see, for that i have to have a blog subsystem, which i didn't finish coding yet. And since i'm a nerd and a freak, i guess i'll have to temporarily put showing music that i like and gushing over how good it is to some other random places on my site.

i probably should've developed the thing for another year before feeding it to the students tbh. It's remarkable how many GUI stuff they ran into which are not exactly bugs, but also are counterintuitive if i think about it pretending to not be myself... needless to say, i'm piled with bug reports that are not written in requested form and don't reproduce, too :D fuck this shit lmao

now there's a "micropages" subsection in the sitemap! it's for stuff that doesn't deserve a fanfared instantly-visible entry in the sitemap. so far it only has my old crap code that i deleted from github and had to preserve somewhere other than my own computer

Also ALICE is now officially wiped from github, and i'm planning to move other stuff to Gitea soon as well. I gotta figure out an alternative to deployToNeocities, though - that only works on github as far as i understand

new ALICE version. We now have shift-drag selection! It's only for deleting things for now though.. but more will follow. I also fixed a bunch of wiring logic bugs, but there's more; considering renaming the project MALICE

So Mozilla kinda backed off and elaborated on removing the "we do not sell your data" and "you allow us a royalty-free license to anything you input to the browser" statements.. but i'm not sure i want to keep using it despite them explaining how It's Not What I Thought. Anyone has any better-informed opinion? Is it librewolf migration time?

i don't know how they would do this practically and expect anyone to stay with them, especially since their browser is almost completely OSS and anyone with a spare moment can fork Firefox into something else.

I've stopped using Mozilla for years, since they've heavily distanced themselves from focusing on privacy. I'd recommend getting the fork called "LibreWolf", 100% worth it.

So proud of all the work i did on ALICE. It has demo projects now also! So now it's not an empty editor that everyone's free to stare into, but also a place to load up and play with projects i made. I want to try and roll it out here tomorrow, since there are a couple more bugs i have to rectify.

New ALICE logic sim version soon, i'm nearing the end of a big overhaul. It's still explosive, but much less so after all the work i did. Not sure anyone but me needs it anyways, but it exists and i will make it work as nicely as possible.
