Okay I lied, I did write the address to Neocities around the Dealer's Den at TFS yesterday and Friday lol. I'm at home resting but another great con this year, will be going back next year and (very likely / hopefully) Harmonycon in Feb n_n

I'm writing a journal to cross-post on various art sites+probably DW, but I've accepted the internet has changed. Last time I went to a con, people still used LJ. But I've been using my Bsky account even though I'm waffling on a handle (don't feel like using NC url). If I'm going to interact with local stuff I have to not be a complete lunatic, LMFAO

I admit I've had no energy to browse or comment etc. myself, same with other "old school" sites I used to invest in like Dreamwidth :( It's just work, work, work and I also have just wanted to log off more lately.

I've been noticing that as well, and figured I accidentally followed a bunch of dead sites or something. Similiar to other comments, I have been also getting increasingly more exhausted by modern internet lately, to the point I feel that I need to tread carefully when exploring. Any more my personal computer is a resource to draw and write, but not connect with others. It's very disheartening.

yeah, personally, it's partially that i've gotten a job at the beginning of the year and thus had less time for ~activities~, but also a bit of burnout mixed in. it is very sad the social media has just made it so much more difficult to actually connect with other people or want to do much of anything, at all... When it comes to online, I'm just tired of the atmosphere. I tried to use my Facebook account in my "log off" quest, ran into bots. Tried to make an art blog on Tumblr, my only note currently was a bot reply. Everything is fake and just bloated with this new tech. Even more obscure spaces I used to enjoy I notice act similar to the rumored Russian troll farms from 2016...

I've lost a lot of interest in coding even if I wasn't spending the last year as a workholic due to circumstances. It currently doesn't feel worth investing in when so much of it is the same insanity or surface-level aesthetics as the "bad" mainstream sites. Even if you leave those sites, the behavior carries over since most users online are zoomers and young millennials under 35 who had that as their normal.

I've definitely felt burnt out, but I'd like to get back into my site! I have ideas for a new layout, it's just a matter of time and inspiration ;_; I definitely agree with you on the atmosphere of being online, too. It's so boring.

TFF2025 went great, although I'm staying home today to decompress before I go back to work tomorrow. I left a few ads for Neocities around the hotel, I wonder how many people saw them lol

I didn't bother with that, I just wrote it down on scraps of paper and in two or three sketchbooks lol! So many areas people left business cards or stickers so I hid one among them.

Hey... Phil's under a HUGE amount of pressure every year. He didn't want to be the Chosen One, having to predict the weather in the weird human ceremonies. I will always stand up for Punxsutawney Phil for handling things so well. I can DEFINITELY say I would not perform as well as him as a forecaster.

I'm not leaving Neocities because staying on here isn't any different from how everyone is glued to worse shitholes like Twitter, but feel free to share other free alternative hosts besides Nekoweb/Leprd + have an RSS feed on your new sites so I can continue following.

I had pretty extreme schizo-tier opinions on AI in 2022, but now I've just accepted it as an evil that needs to be regulated instead of gone completely. Drakey wakey already had a Daria-themed AI chatbot for April fool's this year, so I kinda been knew he's okay with AI. As long as our sites aren't going to be scraped by him (not Google, it already does that) I can't really care.

Neocities has felt very odd lately ever since that article resurfaced. Personally, I agree with you that it's something that needs to be regulated, but as much as we try to deny this tech it's always going to exist. I'm going to keep my site here, unless something happens where they implement some kind of code generator onto the platform that was clearly built on the hardwork of the users. (1)

My personal 9/11 (joking) was when DeviantART introduced AI and initially had everyone's art opted-in for training, I hope NC never gets evil but that's my personal straw. Drake's a techbro so he's going to have a positive view on AI for other usages besides "art"/writing. I don't love the post but it's an optimistic curiosity than "art theft and deepfakes are cool" bullshit.

It was the only active place on the web that was ACTUALLY optimized for art (I had gripes with artists posting exclusively to social media and forcing me to look at compressed, muddy versions of their art sandwiched between posts that eroded my faith in humanity).
