The closest to character development that occurred was Nick's changing opinion of New York, along with him having experienced a person's hope that he never had before and expects never to again. Because of that void, the story felt a little empty, with the most consequential result being the death of Gatsby.

I agree with your thoughts on the movie, which is not too far off from the book, except for the music. Speaking of which, what did you think about the music? Pretty mismatched.
Very mismatched. I feel that it was the intent of those who chose the music to express the feelings of a time long ago with new music. I like that idea, however I dislike how it was executed. I think they could have done better had they chosen something with more depth than pop rap.
