could uhhh. could anyone tell me what the etiquette is regarding replying to guestbook messages? there are so many lovely messages in my guestbook that i've genuinely been meaning to reply to for MONTHS, but itβs just excruciating (thanks executive dysfunction!) :/ so Iβve been wondering if people generally expect an answer in guestbooks?
I feel this in my bones tbh!! π I'm curious about the etiquette, but I want to try replying to messages too... I hope you figure out something that works for you! ; __ ;
i think of a guestbook as like just leaving a little token of appreciation or acknowledgement to the webmaster, i never expect a reply, but when i do see one its a pleasant surprise. this is just me personally, idk how other people feel, but its your guestbook so you get to decide how you do things :]
i feel you with the executive dysfunction, not to mention the demand avoidance! i never expect a response - they're lovely to receive and i might check back to look but it's nothing i'd take personally. :3
I don't expect one when I leave a comment although sometimes I'll circle back to the guestbook and see if there's a response. I make sure to respond to the peeps who join Kitty Friends or Pocket Town so they know their submission is received. And I try to comment on other entries but I'm in the executive dysfunction boat with you!
responses are always nice but i think most people dont expect/feel owed a response - i imagine it can get pretty overwhelming and getting stressed out about replying to everyone will probably take the fun out of it, just take it at ur own pace :]]
replying in guestbooks is a bad experience because you don't get an alert if the webmaster replies to you on their own guestbook. but when someone leaves their url in their guestbook entry i always visit their site and leave a little note in their guestbook. i feel like that's the best community approach. but i wouldn't stress about it bc of the nature of guestbooks in general!!

I've resigned myself to viewing it as a guestbook in the most literal sense. But I do wish I was better at replying :/
