i am no free speech absolutionist, i am, however, a 'being genuine' absolutionist. i do not think we should ban certain words or phrases outright, because i am always thankful for the opportunity to see who will go 'mask off' if given the chance; a lot of people who use the 'right' rhetoric are just pretending. i'm for letting people tell their truth, and seeing what sort of truth it is

the caveat of this position that i have is that action always follows this kind of observation. if someone is fascistic, if someone reveals themselves to be fascistic, they should be treated like a fascist. 'punch Nazis,' etc.

free speech absolutism is less about the preservation of uncensored speech and more about giving people a platform to be racist, ableist, sexist, and classist with impunity. it's the first step on the road to fascism. to create welcoming communities, popper's paradox of tolerance applies.

No idea if it means anything, but I took a peak and it looks like he quietly scrubbed the TERF's link off his page and deleted all the updates pertaining to it. Maybe it's just damage control and not wanting to draw further attention to it. If he realized he was wrong to defend that person, I hope he at least apologizes. :/
