Windows 7 already was not safe for awhile but somewhat recently it became a legit risk to simply connect windows 7 PCs to the internet.

tbf mozilla has been issuing security updates for win7 since last july, but yeah i guess if you carried on downloading stuff after EOL it was taking your life into your own hands

i guess you could probably still get away with connecting win7 to the internet if you limit your web browsing to just wikipedia and floodgap.

no there was some sort of exploit that made it so just connecting to the internet puts the system at risk

you don't even have to open up a web browser for it to effect you

this is such a cool site!

It looks like my new page is broken. its not really a new page, its a scratchpad where i made adjustments to the pictures in the How to Install The Sims 1 on Windows 10 page.

thats odd. there arent any webpage updates showing up here... well it's probably just a maintenance issue thatll get fixed in an hour or 2.

so it turns out the guide on how to play midi files on linux was incomplete. it seems vlc for ubuntu-like distros doesnt come with fluidsynth built into it, you have to install it yourself. anyway that's been fixed now (edit: it turns out neocities has a comment limit? and i've reached it, so see you tomorrow i guess.)

it sounds like linux mint 22 is having some teething troubles right now which is turning off people switching from windows. dont worry about it, just create an account on the mint forums if youre having problems. the install/boot forum is constantly patroled by experts who will get back to you real fast.

forums.linuxmint.com is where you want to go for that. it sounds like live sessions from the boot stick are way more stable (stripped down but stable) than installing on certain computers right now
