Hey, question since I have a few fighting game mutuals, anyone here savvy with Samurai Showdown? I've currently been playing through SNKs fighting game library and am struggling to get into this one the most out of all I've played. Curious if anyone has any tips for it (I've gotten pretty decent at their other fighting games I think and it seems a shame to give up on one of their big series)

I'll probably make a blog post at some point detailing my exploration of SNKs library and my thoughts on each game (I don't think I'm fighting game savvy enough to do full reviews of these games that are suitably in depth). Main thing I've learnt is that I LOVE king of fighters especially

It's a very footsie based fighter, unlike Kof you won't be getting in your opponents face but wait for them to make a mistake and punish. If you look up matches you will commonly see people just sitting and waiting for an opening. A wayyyyy more defensive game compared to the rest of the SNK fighters. Unless you plan to play ALL of them(I'm guessing u are), I recommend 2019 or V Special.

@the-game-hoard I have been trying to play through everything like you guessed (mainly for full story context). I kind of feel like I'm cheesing the AI any time I play slowly and defensively and wait for punish opportunities. Is it normal for most fights to end in a time out, or does that mean I'm not being active enough? I also swear the CPU does more damage than me and I'm not sure why other than the pow metre

I think it's cool you got to fix the Photosmart's issue and unlock additional features. Did the camera include the original software; perhaps this will allow you to handle the RAW files?

Loving the site, some wonderful aesthetics here and really enjoy the idea of compiling NES and Master System games that fit under a specific theme like Halloween and Summer. Very nice!

Hey, been following for a while but I've been enjoying your site even more now that I've started playing through Shining Force 1 myself! I had only played Darkness, Wisdom and Holy Ark prior. I will enjoy checking your scene translations as I play through!

I'm so happy to hear that! I love that someone might be able to enjoy the original story right on their first playthrough now, really makes all my work worth it. (i do need to pick up on bringing the rest of my guide book translation over there though lol, there's a bunch of stuff missing)

By the way, when playing Mega Drive stuff on my own I usually play them with the scanline filter on, but I felt like those scanlines looked significantly worse at a smaller resolution on my website, so I tried taking the screenshots with the scanlines off for this review. What are your thoughts, does it look better with or without the scanlines?

I'm not sure if I'm going to do another part talking about gameplay of the NESTS saga or not, mainly because I'm not sure if I have too much to say. I like them all except for 2001 which seems to be normal, but I feel like I can only say "I like KoF" for game after game so many times before it gets repetitive. Might do a page on the non-KoF SNK fighters like SamSho and the later Fatal Furys tho.
