sometimes i forgot to put the lil thing that allows emoji and unicode into the code and it butchers my own language cus without it åäö aren't real letters to the internet. å becomes "Ã¥". beautiful.

but also I myself have just kind of become resigned to the fact that AI's gonna be scraping stuff no matter what we do. and whether or not certain protections even WORK seem up in the air. so i'm just. screw it, y'know.

guys that blog post was from last year. I don't think kyle is going to suddenly turn this place into a scrape zone, considering how little it gets updated anyway. I don't think there's any harm in checking out other hosters, but I think it's important to remember the post was from June 2023.

i don't like genAi tools in like 99% of cases btw. If he decides to update this platform to use our works like that i'm leaving. I just honestly think it would have happened by now if he wanted to?

Yeah, I agree with this. I enjoy the old web movement but that means we shouldn't marry ourselves to the identity of an individual host. This site is the most convenient for me right now, so as long as the functionality itself stays simple and doesn't fall down the garbage chute of algorithmically generated content and recommendations, I will stay here.

on another note i'm almost finished with some remaking parts of my website, but one of the webrings is behaving weirdly in all the browsers i test in, but in different ways. the ring's been kinda half-shut down anyway, i just wanted to keep it for funsies.
I gathered those banners over time from various other neocities sites tbh, as most of my banners were! Feel free to snag them, pretty sure the creators posted them up for free use.
