the only reason i can think of for a 403 here is that you have an HTML and a folder with the same name. The browser opens the folder instead of the HTML and tries to open the folder's index but the index is actually the root directory, so nginx won't let it. If you rename the HTML it should work.

why are so many people just straight up stealing these days? why run a website if you are going to copypaste a site 1:1??? there's been someone else going around on here too, stealing people's layouts and i'm just so baffled.

Ah man that's so lame. Stealing code has always been a thing. There used to be a way to hide your code if some one tried to 'view source'. I wonder if that still works.
