I like your review, UA :-) Though I think it's maybe a bit unfair to criticize the book for not being good autistic representation, because the book never claimed to be such a thing. it's true the book doesn't claim to represent autism, but i think it's still important to address because it's regarded as such. i realize that's a problem with the audience more than the author, which is why i called it more like a projection. as for the ending, yeah i'm super happy she chose nonconformity and therefore chose to go back to a store. store work is totally valid!

how i interpreted it when she said she wanted a cure or change was that she ultimately wanted people to let her live the way she wants. i think by going back to a new store with new strangers she can put her mask back on, but i don't think she achieves the privacy, respect, nonjudgment, and ability to be genuine that she was actually seeking. idk that makes me sad lol

ah i really enjoyed your review. i've heard of convienece store woman before but have never heard people say it had autism rep. good or bad. it might justbe dependent on what circles we hang around in on the internet haha. i can understand feeling disappointed by the ending, too. i haven't read the book yet but maybe the ending was more so about the change in perspective about what she wanted instead of attaining it?

nothing crazy today just gave /grrl a simple layout & added some new stuff to /oldwebgfx. i'm still brainstorming ways to best organize all of the gifs by category (maybe tags?) also might tweak the layout to display full page instead of in a lil container.. 🤔

Seirei no Moribito is sitting on my want to watch list for years now, I think I'll watch it soon now since I've craving more fantasy anime after finishing Lodoss and Slayers (and getting disappointed of them lol Lodoss Eiyuu Kishi Den and Slayers Revolution respectively)

Also about a protagonist being over 30, they're making an anime adaptation of Yumi's Cells and the protagonist is 32 (but it's a Korean webtoon, also it was only announced and it didn't even got a poster yet)

@loves1ck hell yeah balsa is so based... i hope you enjoy the short manga, the only chapter i found kind of weird was the one with the student/teacher but other than that all of the stories were really interesting, its worth checking out! and thank you for trusting my taste, im feeling like a connoisseur rn..

@nekonokuni i totally get you with lodoss, it wasnt really all that for me either (aside from the nice animation), seirei no moribito truly has a great story to go along with everything else.. its a shame it isnt as iconic as slayers/lodoss!

and omg im not huge into webtoons so i never heard of yumis cells, it actually looks cute!! ill definitely watch the anime when it comes out... im usually put off by the webtoon style so i tend to look over the good stuff
