asking you this because you're the only person who i think would know this, but is there any chance you know of a way to play .XMs in the browser? or is it a smarter approach to just render out MP3s?

not sure why you're attempting that other than looping songs perfectly or size, but the modarchive player could work for that

cheeky reminder that i have a cdn with a couple of useful scripts stored on it if anyone wants to use 'em! jaxload (https://graybox.lol/.cdn/js/jaxload.min.js) preloads hovered links so when the user clicks on them, they load faster (i have tampermonkey insert this script into all sites lol). jaxframe (https://graybox.lol/.cdn/js/jaxframe.min.js) is literally just freezeframe but smaller and actually functional,,

[edit: its out! hover over the header! i also edited the welcome section to make me seem less like a dunce] sorry for the excess amount of posts, but i just gotta mention one laaaast thing. instead of releasing one big update to the site, im gonna finish the planned additions one at a time and release it in chunks. I shall edit this post once I upload the completed button stuff + tweaked header to the server.

Tbh, I think they both look terrific, but the first chromatically consorts with your white background. If you're willing to implement both to load either randomly or in alternation with matching backgrounds, I'd suggest that. Either way, consonance is key....

I would make it so you could only post 10 unique comments per day, then 10 replies per comment per day, this would combat spam while also making it more reasonable to use. That or just up the limit to 25 posts total per day, 10 is easy to get even without hell-threads or using Neocities as Twitter/X.
