hello i've been inspired again. thinking i'm going to expand the "come say hi" page (though not for some time because i have midterms 😐), right now it's just my guestbook, but thinking i'm going to have other ways to say hello and leave your mark on gw, + embed/iframe the guestbook. i've just discovered drawbox, so fun so i think i'll include that. but what else...

my imagination exceeds my understanding of what is code-able. i have a vision of a "leave me a trinket" section, people can upload a little image they like and i'll have it displayed in a big collage, like maybe a funny junk drawer kind of set up, and you can hover and it'll say "x left this here on..."

I LOVE the way you have the site setup now where you can organically explore. the sitemap might be more clear if you added pictures for about and recently or made them more clearly links/navigation and the text inside the pictures is a little hard to read

also a small css thing the transitions/animations on some of the pictures start to glitch if you follow the edge. I had the EXACT same issue and I think I fixed it by making the div with the transition a fixed height and width with absolute units like em, rem, pixels, or vh/vw so that it doesn't change during the transition and retrigger it. I think thats how I fixed it

ok complete list of updates because i commented too much yesterday so neocities silenced me. new blog, new recents, brought back tarot log (on /hobby), new writing page (on /hobby) with a short story and 2 poems (more to come) + hoping to join muse ariadne writing club, and there's new friends at /thespot

been feeling like my site is too hard to navigate...but i love the phone and the house. do people find it confusing upon first glance? there is the sitemap ofc but yk

I don't think it's too confusing :) It really reminds me of a site I used to go on when I'd use the school library computers (instead of doing schoolwork haha). I think because you have the 'skip to sitemap' button it gives people the option if they just want to view the entire site :)

also, on the hobby page, the typewriter now opens up a writing page, where you can see updates, novel excepts (nothing for now), short stories (i posted one... from a class so it's already been seen and thus not scary to share lol), poems (nothing for now), and the muse page (also empty)

let me know if you notice anything wonky. minus the unsynced audio on the index page i don't know how to fix that and it's a little funny to me. the vibe is so different now...i like it but i'll have to get used to it for sure

the little 'updated' thing didn't come up for me to comment on, but (sharing for my own sake of appreciating a log) new (small) writing update on hobby page and new blog, and i'm dabbling in flexboxes on the homepage now (will gw be mobile-friendly/responsive one day? probably not but stay tuned)

also i put my url into that website carbon calculator and it got a D score :( which is 0.56g of CO2 produced every time someone visits gw what the hell. mad upsetting as an envi sci student. but as a bad/new coder not sure what to do about it. the website only linked to a £17 book on sustainable web dev and a directory of 'green web hosting services'. more research required on my end it seems.

but mildly funny now that if you google girl-wonderlost.neocities (because this site stores the info whoops should've read disclaimer) one of the first hits is a link to that site and part of the preview says 'This [my site] is dirtier than 56 % of all web pages'
