Don't ever pass up a photo when you see one. Today I drove an hour to get one (among others) that I'd passed before, and the place had been destroyed.

places change and honestly sometimes it sucks. there is an area 10 minutes walk away from my home (near the center of a 500k city)which is kind of my spiritual place; four small lakes next to each other, tiny dacha's around them, all next to a seaport and railroad tracks. a very serene place for a multitude of reasons. there are a lot of photos from there on my site.

this winter they installed some useless fence around the tracks. it does not restrict too much access, it is only visible if you look in the direction of the tracks, but i was really down when I saw it. I was hoping this place was a time capsule, conveniently forgotten by any government officials or whatever. the place remained itself, but I wonder for how much long.

And of course, I am familiar with what you're saying. I have lots of photos of place that are not there anymore, sometimes I unknowingly took photos mere days before the place got destroyed

Hmm... I intentionally don't talk about gear on my site because I want the photos to stand alone and not get wrapped in gear talk, but I do also like talking about cameras and technique. I need a compromise... And yes, I used RGB color filters for the color game boy photo.

A little experiment in trichrome photography with the game boy camera. I definitely need to figure out how to deal with the autoexposure washing out the colors.

Hi! I noticed you have a Game Boy Camera, but I don't see any pix from it besides the one from your printer! I use a GBxCart to transfer mine onto the PC. The internet needs more Game Boy pix!

Please forgive my unsolicited feedback, but I couldn't help but notice how you use full-scale images both in the gallery thumbnails as well as in the galleries themselves. This makes the pages take a while to load even with a decent internet connection. Maybe you could look into using scaled-down images?

For example, downscale the thumbs to 300x300 and the actual photos to 1024x768, and make the photos clickable for full-res links? No pressure of course.

Believe it or not, these are scaled down. I could do even smaller scaling for the thumbnails, but I will continue using full size in the galleries because I don't want to require JavaScript or opening new tabs to see the full quality image. I chose 1800px for the max dimensions so that it would still look decent on a 4K monitor. The photos on this site are all under 1MB, and the originals are 15-30MB each.
