Something I often find with pixel art games is that when more detail gets added it kinda clashes with the mental image I had in my head vs how things end up looking in sequels. I wouldn't have thought that the blood in Nidhogg 1 was actually yellow and orange for instance, I would of figured that's just how the silhouette art style presents it, it felt darker than 2 presents itself with its cartoon paint characters

how do you feel about the new "pre-order" (still got the merch, it wasn't pre-ordered though!) merch that comes with switch games nowadays? we just picked up pikmin 4 today and it came with a cool journal and different bookmarks! i think it's pretty cool stuff!

I can certainly say Nintendo have upped their game (no pun intended!) in regards to pre-order bonuses, lately, with some pretty neat merch being offered. My biggest concern is how uneven these offers can be between different stores (or the opposite: it becomes a tough choice between two pieces you want) and countries. Bookmarks sound cool, though; that's not something you see much of, these days.

I used to ride horses as a kid and tbf, even though its been two decades, I never remember reversing the horse so I'm pretty sure they got that detail right. Also I love music that accidentally completely changes the entire mood and atmosphere of a game, eg David Wise's funy monky vgm for DKC
