my art pages are taking a while to load now... not sure whats causing it but im probably gonna start hosting my images on a separate site instead of having all the files uploaded here directly to free up some bandwidth. i use imgur for Roadkill but i might switch over to a different one

instagram bots will refuse to take down a comment calling someone ugly and telling them to kts but if you literally say "i love this" they'll hide it or take it down and lock ur account. funny how theyre training AI with our posts when they cant even get their own to correctly moderate the platform

this exact issue was the initial reason i stopped posting to instagram. i only went back for artists i follow that dont have newgrounds or furaffinity. isn't it fucking disturbing that social media is the main way most people keep up with their friends and the world and yet the companies that own them have done nothing to improve their moderation?? they'd rather put their efforts into making the platform itself worse

like i get it, people will always be mean on the internet, the only thing you can do about it is to ignore it. but when there are systems put in place to punish the people who DO act mean, but those systems dont work, you have to admit its fucking frustrating! we shouldnt have to tolerate bullying and bigotry running rampant bc IG's bots are fucking broken

In short: Each site is assigned a score from 0-100. "Special Sauce" lists sites by descending score. Followers, views, likes, profile comments, and being featured all factor into the initial score. In addition, penalties are applied for brand new sites, being blocked a lot, and extremely high API calls. Finally, scores decrease over time since the last site update.

well, the idea is to have a more holistic front page than just most followers or most views. but you can always set it to random to get true variety! try not to worry about page rankings so much. it's healthier that way.

the lore of the comic series im working on (Hell's Belles) is getting so expansive and ive decided that instead of having any specific protagonist each issue is gonna focus on a different character, but following the overarching plot i have laid out. pretty much an ensemble cast and unraveling each character's individual stories through each issue

why is it that we can just sweep it under the rug when a popular person online is legitimately dangerous? be it bigotry, child grooming, or abusive behavior, calling it out is labeled as "fear mongering" and "petty drama". im not a fan of callout culture myself, but i cant be fully against it because i fucking hate seeing communities just ignore this shit and continue to platform these people

especially on the indie web and certain social medias, you're basically surrounded by people who see no issue with these things because they dont wanna contribute to a "toxic environment". arguably tho, this just makes the environment even MORE toxic. from creeps like ponymagnets to transphobes like vivarism, "see something, say something" goes out the window in favor of internet wokeness points. it's ridiculous.

to be clear, i dont say "wokeness" in the way shitass conservatives use it. i just mean that in a LOT of cases people will shrug off dangerous behavior in favor of avoiding "drama" and seeming like the "bigger person". its only when the issue gets big enough and popular opinion shifts that people start to finally speak up because its seen as acceptable now, and thats performative.
