I learnt a long while ago that in rp, it's better to play your favourite characters (if you can) than to expect to be able to interact with another person's version of it. Depending on how the other person treats people in rp, you can be very disappointed if you don't.
Wish I could get rid of the rp anxiety I got from twitter. It's not the same place, these are different people. Completely different rp format, but it's still there.

Re reviewing books: You make a good point. I don’t bother just trying to review new books. There are too many books to read over a long period so I just read whatever I feel like. Then if anyone else is interested, that’s great

I'd rather people read what they enjoy, rather than feel like they are forced to read or because it's seen as popular.

I found my copy of Stephan King's Cycle of the Werewolf today. Don't normally read his books. Tried to get into The Shining once but found it boring. Film is better..

You're missing out IMO. The book scared the wits out of me as a child, while the movie was just meh like most Stephen King movie adaptations.

I just didn't like it. The passages where Jack spent ages reading newspaper clippings on the history of the hotel were too long and over-written. They slowed down the plot of the book too much for me. Sometimes books can just have too much waffle in them.

I've also added a page for the Iron Druid Chronicles. I had the first book in the series in the cupboard - needs reading, but I didn't feel right adding a page for the series until I'd found the book. Hopefully, it is a good series. I've also done a page for Felix Castor, which I've not done until now.

Why can't Amazon have the actual blurb for books on the book's page instead of meaningless comparisons to other authors in the same genre?

I've managed to find most of the books now, but I seem to be missing Kitty's Greatest Hits and Otherworld Secrets (I am sure that I have those books...)
Day two of sorting books out - Found Small Favor (yay!) but also found an old diabetes recipe book which I bought quite a while ago. (From a discount shop.) One problem with it - it doesn't say how many people each recipe feeds and the amounts of pasta, rice, etc in the meals are for 4 or more people if you look up the same amount in other recipes from other books (which are non-diabetic ones, I might add.) monumental error, you can see why people are so confused about what they should and shouldn't eat with diabetes and how there is a lot of misinformation out there. It was also published by Diabetes UK, too, so they should have been more stringent with editing it. It's as though they got a bunch of recipes from somewhere and just stuck it in the book with no thought put behind it.
Today, I have been sorting out my urban fantasy books so that I can actually find them to read them, and cleaning the hallway which is one of the things I can do now that the temperatures are better for working in there. Found most of the Kelley Armstrong books. Most of the Jim Butcher, Patricia Briggs and Carrie Vaughn have been found. (For some reason, one of the Patricia Briggs books I've bought twice without

realising. It's probably because the books haven't been displayed/organised properly for ages so I didn't know that I had it already. Plus, almost every book published in the past 10 years seems to have a generic book cover and they no longer stand out from each other. When charity shops are open again, I'm going to have a clear out of things I don't want any more, duplicates, etc, etc, etc...

I hope it goes well. I have tried forums in the past, but they weren't very active - one was old, and although most of the members were still there, I think they'd been doing it so long that they had done all the ideas they had or were busy doing other things. Didn't help that the owner was trying to set up another forum in a different fandom so it seemed abandoned. The second one was new, but the owner was trying to
do too many things at once and didn't have staff helping on the forum. It's a bad idea that, because it's a lot of work and you get burned out. This one seems to be quite active and there are enough people on there to have a good group, so hopefully it will work out. Wish there was less emphasis on discord, though and more ooc interaction on the forum.
