i love neocities so much it's really made my life so much better. keeping my diary on here has made my relationships meet a whole new level i wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity for. i think this platform has a lot to offer but it's lack of features in the dashboard are really holding it back. i know some people feel because it's websites it shouldn't matter, but it has the potential to bring people together

been thinking about giving the site an adult tag but it feels so broad. im not a site that necessarily intends to make adult content but i am an adult living an adult life, that isn't usually expressed in an explicit way either but isn't intended for young people eitherway. the adult tag algorithm is porn centered (thts fine). trusting the personal responsibility of kids is scary

as a kid that got groomed online i think as adults we hold a responsibility to keep kids safe. kids end up in all kinds of crazy places off and online. sometimes you just have to watch them make a bad decision and be there when they need help figuring it out

all of this to say my site isn't intended for kids, but until i figure out a way to make that clear it's going to stay the way it is and that's my choice on putting my self expression first and foremost

+ i'd prefer if sites that sexualize kids in anyway don't interact with me that content is very upsetting to me and i still struggle with that experience daily

All I know is that there's page counter plugins you can find on other sites and just add those to yours. Like a counter of views for each page. Can't remember the name though

i dont think people become invisible as we get older i think there's a lot of societal aspects at play including the pressure to reduce expression as you get older that force people into hiding

everytime i see an old lady in a nice outfit i want to compliment her but i get nervous.i want to talk to old people more though. i think our country's obsession with being young forever is strenghtened by the seperation of generations and also plays into the struggle to unify the working class

in ancient civilizations older people dressed adorned in metals tattoos and piercings. draped in their stories in culture and people recognized them as such. when did we lose this?

another banger. u are so right. i think obvi a fraction of this is due to social media, where its all about optics to an extent and people are more likely to say rude things that they otherwise wouldnt. some ppl getting those comments are willing to stand firm in their beliefs & self expression, but others dont cuz ig it gets too much.

alao parents that repeat the cycle of snuffing out anything different. my parents are pretty cool for the most part but they have their moments. when i still wore makeup regularly they had a whole argument w me to the point i cried where they called me a try hard and that i looked ugly with it on. like granted my makeup was bad at 17/18 but like 😒 did they have to do all that...
