Reading the dA article and man. I miss the hell out of old dA. I was really surprised by the commentary on how a lack of places to put resources pits hobbyists and popular artists against each other as competitors rather than artists in different stages of their art journey. That's so true...
it's very true ... and it sucks!! the only real place ive found for resources is tumblr, and that's a bit of a wildwest bc it's not an art centric place unlike dA :( it's a really good article though, i know i've talked abt it a few times in other places but it's a good reflection on how hard it is to capture that, and that artfight is the closest to a community that dA had
Its such a shame what happened to dA... Not only its filled with AI slop, but its also uhh corn AI slop, and even if you disable the mature content those still make their way to your feed. I spent a long without accessing my account and when i come back, it was like the hell gates were open right there!!! What happened to the community and all the real artists? The platform feels abandoned, it's bizarre
dropped dead like a fly, a lot of ppl fled after the UI overhaul (myself included, that's when i truly dropped the site as dead) but the true hammer rlly was their shitty gen AI being released. i still see some wonderful artists there but im like ... please ... idk how yall do it ...
I miss old dA aaa!! I pretty much learned how to draw there. I'm [relatively] active on Cara and I must say that I find the greatest sense of 'old da' out of all my social medias there. Like, people actually write well-thought-out comments. And I love that they have community events/challenges. Also I see plenty of anime-style art, maybe it's changed since you were on it! If you do try it out again, let me know...👀
mayhaps… i haven’t ever used instagram much to get used to the layout so it’s why im a lil unused to it… im also terrible and keeping up social energy on social medias in general 😭😭😭 if i do get brain power i may revive it even if just for posting
I second yogomagpie, I'm not really active on Cara anymore (art block) but the community was super cool. I even got to know amazing artists behind media i like, like one of the artists that worked on cuphead animations, it was a really nice experience!
