ACK there was a reply i didn’t mean to delete it, just like it… for anyone curious in the audience i remember they recommended last.fm and bandcamp
I don't have an account on it, but imo RYM's charts is quite good for virtual crate-digging. You can browse by country, language, year, genre, etc...
Radiooooo.com and haveyouheardthisband on tumblr (you can sort genres by tags on their blog)
i don't use it often, but music-map.com is quite fun to play with :]
https://everynoise.com/ is one of the best... It's slowly dying but unbeatable.
seconding everynoise! also listening to random student-run campus radios on radio.garden - eugene OR's UO radio is really good esp late at night
and for bandcamp it helps to look under tags like 'lofi' 'bedroom' 'folk' etc and just scroll thru and listen to the previews. they've really improved the search page recently so it's much easier now to do this without pulling up like 10 other tabs lol
8tracks, https://numerogroup.com/blogs/stories, googling [location] [music genre]. blogs I like are sophie's floorboard (emo, skramz, hardcore, rock), said the gramophone (indie/art rock), largehearted boy (guy who interviews authors for annotated playlists on their books 2002-present)
