I plan to migrate some stuff to a shrine-like directory page, but it’s so hard to find a good background… finding nice seamless wallpapers is impossible!!

Agreed !! The British Library Flickr has a good amount of the colored or patterned papers in vintage books, if that's along the lines of what you're looking for
i suggest https://3djungle.net/textures/wallpaper/index.php?sort=download (rest of the page is also great if you want some natural/photographic backgrounds)
