As a former future (continental) philosopher, I use both em dash and semicolon all the time. They can pry them from my cold, dead (postmodern) hands. My editing program (Ulysses) produces the right character code when I export automatically.

reeeaal, i love em dashes and semicolons. i even got the linter to replace "--" with "—"
