Think I need to work on my substantial bias against Christians of all denominations, cause as soon as I find out someone is Christian I immediately react like that picture of homelander people use as a react image

Like, I am ethnically Jewish, and describe myself as Jewish under cultural grounds, but I do not believe in anything Judaism actually teaches as a religion. Yet I do not have a negative reaction to Jews who are religious/spiritual, but Christians? Nah

Like part of it is a sort of Leninist rejection of the category of religion in society, an a Russelian rejection of the religious view of reality, but Christianity in particular grosses me out

Maybe it’s my trauma? Maybe the reality of evangelicalism presenting an existential threat to me and my family as queer and Jewish? Idk. I gotta write something about it.

I can relate to feeling the same kind of reaction because I have seen Christianity be used so many times to validate hatred of others or extreme actions. A person whom I used to go to high school with and considered friend, posted on Easter the year it feel on trans day of visibility that "we are in a spirtual war" and at that point I knew I had to cut ties. I wish I didn't so many other similar stories but I do...

growing up as a catholic in an abusive household has inextricably tied up christianity with being ashamed and stuck. a lot of the core values of it led to multiple ruined generations of my f*mily, so yeah i also run into the same problem of being irrationally disgusted at strangers. feels too harsh

yeah same, despite being ethnically and culturally jewish through my mom, I also grew up catholic, and have a lot of trauma because of it (which I've written about so big tw if you read the stuff I wrote about it). My family converting to catholicism away from judaism also was like, generationally terrible decision, lol

sorry for lack of major updates. Grad school has been extra busy since the semester is wrapping up. Once it is done, I will probably send out a flurry of writing and updates to projects over the course of the winter break, so stay tuned!!
