Added a shrine page to my old expages websites from the 90s. They link to all the old sites I could find that I made back then. They are very cute. I was not good at spelling, lol. crying ;-; thank you! I started to type this out and then I hit the word limit for a comment/response, so it’s going to be mulstiple posts lol sorry to clog the feed! ok i'm not sure where to start about my lotr feelings haha i listened to them as audiobooks, which i absolutely loved, but i was just thinking earlier today how i'd love to get a hold of physical copies to re-read them that way!

i'm very glad that i read the books before watching the movies though! it was great seeing it playout on the screen while all the book details were still fresh in my mind! As a conlang enjoyer, I’ve been looking forward to reading/watching lotr for a few years. I’ve just been waiting for the right time to start I guess.

Embarrassingly enough, it was actually the 2019 Tolkien movie that got me Properly interested in conlanging. i'm not sure if it's up your alley, but I just finished reading this great article by Dimitria Fimi called “Language as Communication vs. Language as Art: J.R.R. Tolkien and early 20th-century radical linguistic experimentation,” which has been a really fun sort of synthesis of a lot of my interests!

thanks for the article rec!! i haven’t seen the 2019 tolkien movie yet so this was a nice reminder… i can’t imagine how cool the audiobooks were as a first-time experience! the books were too difficult for me (wayy back in the day when i first learned about lotr) so i did watch the movies first, and coming back to the books as a way to experience the story in full was so rewarding :) hoping to tackle the silm soon!

Bit of a fun tidbit about netbooks: the base of my website was made using Seamonkey Composer on an Asus EeePC 1011PX. That laptop now has video output issues, but the Windows XP install lives on in my Asus EeePC 1015PE.

@marshmellosucks That's sweet; those EeePCs sure were popular. I just ran Seamonkey on my HP with Zorin OS with little trouble; I love that it still retains the Netscape aesthetic.

Yeah I love my little EeePC, I use it as a portable 2000's time capsule. The base layout of the Emporium's new website was made using CoffeeCup VisualSite Designer on that little thing.

same sorry but off topic i remember using my sisters lenovo netbook to pretend to code because i did not know how to make html files, it inspired me to code and if it weren't for that i wouldnt be here
