It's hard. The Enemy will do everything in their power to make us fall into despair and lose sight of our hope. God has given us a sword against them by His Spirit, and so they seek to disarm us through despair. You must cling onto hope! Even just a little faith goes a long way. In any case, I'll be praying for you!

I'll be praying for you as well. God can move oceans, mountains, and skies. When the time is right, and in accordance with His glory, things will come together. For now, take care of yourself. I like to read Psalms 91, 111, 112, and 113 when I have those kinds of thoughts and feelings.

Having some set of ideal circumstances for writing always turned it into a massive timesink that had to compete with my social life and other hobbies. Maybe writing focused at a desk is most productive, but allowing myself to write in bits and pieces standing on the subway, waiting for meetings to start, while eating etc. has allowed it to become a far more integral part of my life, something i'm always doing.

Of course, if writing is your primary job, then it makes sense that it would be ritualized -- just like any other job one has to do every day for multiple hours.

There was a great zen pencils covering this topic, ironically with a Bukowski quote used as the prose/narration.
