nakahara chuuya!!! if you read more from him, i recommend paul mackintosh & maki sugiyama's translation, it's really good!! i bring it wherever i go. and if you like japanese poetry, i also recommend hagiwara sakutarou!

I have tried so many times to write about what insomnia feels like, and never get it right. You did it beautifully here. I sometimes wonder if my imagination is *too visual*, the exact opposite of yours: when I close my eyes, I automatically visualize all sorts of things. Sometimes I can't tell whether or not I'm dreaming. Bombarded with so many images all the time, it sometimes makes it difficult to write.

@turd, thank you so much (o´▽`o) I quite like that one as well. I ordered the wrong coffee because my Japanese is very poor & near nonexistent, and it was gross & good at the same time, which is to say that I enjoyed it. I wanted something iced, but it was a rainy day, so a hot drink wasn’t so bad after all. If/when I ever go back, I’d like to order the matcha which comes in a big matcha bowl!

The whole museum experience was really lovely. I was so happy to go that I started tearing up on the way over as I looked through the train window. Everything was so green & it began to rain hard enough that you could hear it in the train. It started again a little after I reached the museum. It was really special to me. I’d wanted to go for so long & it seemed so impossible. I can’t believe that I actually did it.

I didn't realize that you were a Sufjan Stevens fan! Carrie & Lowell is one of my favorite albums. My favorite song off that album is The Only Thing, but Death with Dignity is another favorite. Anyways, beautiful & touching diary entry. Just read your newest one. You have a really eloquent way of describing your dreams, (I'm a bit jealous of your writing skills)!

Despite being very much a noviciate of his body of work — as far as full albums go, I've heard just Carrie & Lowell + Michigan — I love it, and also feel that C&L is one of my favorite albums ever. It just made me feel like my life is now, right now & that everything in this world is something I can go see, like it's my birthright somehow. It made me think of my life in more serious terms.
