The Goldfish lives in its bowl, watching the ripples on the surface of the water. It can see the effects of the weaver (a shadow falls, a hand reaches in to feed it) but cannot comprehend the weaver itself—the room, the house, the world beyond. The weaver's reality is "unknowable" to the goldfish.

The Unknowable Era begins when the weaver itself becomes so complex that any intelligence within the tapestry (including its own creations) can no longer model it faster than it is being woven. The future is not just hidden; it is being created in real-time by a process that is more complex than any possible prediction of it.
The visual design emphasizes that we cannot predict beyond a certain point — the final era is labeled "the unknowable" because post-singularity intelligence may be as incomprehensible to us as quantum physics is to a goldfish.
