You can tell the fickle fans that jump on band wagons are out in force again. For ages, LOTR was ignored, but now there is a new film out they've all come out of the wood work. Half of them will be complaining about the film, half of them will be harassing others for liking it/not being 'true fans!' in their minds, and half will be harassing folks for not being LGBTQ...

Not counting Watership Down, the James Herriot books and Lotr, as I've read them before, the best books this year have been the Marie Brennen books (Lady Trent, in particular), the Emily Wilde books, the Katherine Addison books and the Meghan Lindholm books. The worst? The Scholomance and Echoes of the Runes.

I would say that the Scholomance were the biggest disappointment because I have waited quite a while to read them and wasn't able to read them because I couldn't get them when they first came out. What's also made them disappointing was that I expected better from the author since I liked the Temeriare books so much.

I've started reading Wolf's Brother - I get quite a lot of Jean M. Auel vibes from this duology, though without the erotica, which in some ways is probably a good thing.

Although I am only a three chapters in, I think it's better than The Reindeer People as it seems to be a faster read, and I'm not getting tired reading it, which unfortunately, I found was a problem with The Reindeer People.

I am so tired of Etsy sellers making you think that their ad is for a set of items and it turns out to be one thing. It's false advertising.

And then you find the exact same stamps that they are selling on Amazon as an actual set.

One person was also selling them for £10 as one, too, so it's not like they are selling them at their actual price.

I've no problem with them selling the same stamps as Amazon, but sell them as a set like they are supposed to be and at their proper value.

Finished Candle and Crow today. It was good, but I'm disappointed that it is the last in the Ink and Sigal/Iron Druid series - I feel like we were just getting to know the characters and that there is more that could have been written in that universe.

I have always found the Christmas sales marketing strategies to be bizarre where giving money to charity is concerned: you have Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Giving Tuesday. By the time Giving Tuesday comes around, most people would have been spent up and probably not even on gifts for people, but for stuff for themselves.

One other thing is I don't like having furniture in the middle of the room if I can help it. I rather have everything against a wall. Technically, I could keep the dvds and get a large bookcase type thing for them, but that would mean the sofa has to go into the middle of the floor, and when you do that it becomes a pain to vacuum around. hoover around everything and I hate those hand held things that you have to empty every five minutes when you use them. They don't help with cleaning at all.

I've decided that the DVD collection is going to get a culling. We just don't have the room to display/organize these things properly. There are quite a number that I am meh about.... Some of them don't play well (I'm looking at you, Star Trek DVDs), and I pretty much like my books more. So off ye go in the New Year after I've bought a couple of organizers. I'm going to go through them all, keep my favourites that

I've got room for and the rest will be gone. It wasn't an easy thing to do before we moved last year because I wasn't sure what I wanted, and what I didn't even though we were short on space.

The library does have a lot of Winston Graham books, but I'm not sure if I want to read them next year as there are a lot I want to look at already, but it is nice to have a list of what the library has at any rate, so that I can decide later when there is less for me to get through. Maybe audible has some? I already have the Poldark novels.

There is a character called Prowse, and a character called Cheeseman in Hornblower and the Hotspur. All I can think about when they come up is Darth Vader and an anthro mouse selling cheeses.
