If you are a linux user that is against "Age Verification", then please avoid linux distributions that have "Systemd" Init Systems. Currently, there are alternative Init Systems such as SysVinit, Upstart, OpenRC, Runit, s6, BusyBox Init, InitNG, Dinit, and others. In practice, this is harmless until a program asks SystemD for the age attestation information, but this is a terrible precedent and a very good sign to start looking at alternatives without SystemD. Check this out: https://nosystemd.org/

Hey venus-territory, as of right now, the change in the userdb birthDate field is a nothing burger; however, this change in the configuration file is an indication of its trajectory, which is anti-privacy. I'm speculating that there will be incremental implementations to systemD that will eventually become "Age Verification".

The best apologue for what is happening with systemD is the boiling frog. The frog doesn't notice the gradual changes of water temperature until it is too late. If linux users keep ignoring the incremental problems of systemD, then they will have to face significant consequences over time.

Totally. Things will get bad as soon as programs start depending on reading that value to work. What if they break if the field is missing? And everything gets more creepy when you realize that the PR author works at a scamming company (check his site out) and that the people who merged it, work at Microsoft. All part of someone's plan :(

Hey venus-territory, isn't it obvious that an agenda is being rolled out? Many will label us "tin-foil hats" or conspiracy theorists, but the writing is on the wall. We are well aware of what they are pushing. The only thing we can do is expose them, and prepare for what is coming. It is best to find alternatives, or even create our own systems. That's what I like about linux because of its decentralized nature.

Hey venus-territory, it is quite noble/dutiful to contact a state/country representative to reject the bill before it becomes a law; however, this is a temporary solution. As you already know, Mark "the Suck" Zuckerberg and his META .pdf gang have infinite bags of money to sneakily push deceptive bills. These bills are usually hidden under legalese that are not understood by the average citizen.

Basically, you'll be playing "wack a mole" for years, if not decades, fighting endless amounts of bills. My previous post is meant for non-partisan individuals who are out-numbered in their state or country, and are seeking for alternative solutions to unconstitutional laws. Behind closed doors, there's always a conniving politician that is bribed by the highest bidder when bad laws are passed.

I'm fairly certain that "Dead Internet Theory" is not a theory anymore, but an absolute truth. If you observe activity on every social media platform, then you'll notice a substantial amount of users are automated bots & artificially generated accounts. There's an increase of bot activity, decreased genuine interactions/engagement, & the fortune 5 corporations controlling/influencing the narrative and behavior.

Oh for sure. Even their own audits have proven that much. At first, it was a means to keep viewers "engaged" with the site so that there would be an increase in ad revenue. Suddenly, it became a means to control the narrative. Funny thing is that Ender's Game foreshadowed this decades ago.

One method to determine if your website is being censored is to simply use a VPN(virtual private network) from another country to view your website. You can use proxy servers and the TOR browser/network as well. There are countries that have limited or no ISP(internet service providers), such as North Korea and Somalia. Unfortunately, there's no way of figuring out if you are censored in these places.

Now, you can do the old-fashioned way, and physically ask strangers from other countries to see if your website is censored. They can take screenshots/videos/information about your website and relay it to you. You can probably use carrier pigeons to relay information to each other. lol

Recently, I've been looking into censorship laws. Apparently, you can sue websites for censorship; however, you need to prove that the platform is violating the T.O.S., censoring as an act of discrimination, and censoring as an act of defamation. There are certain users on neocities that feel like they are being censored unlawfully. I'm going to research this further.

Hey underwhite, I'm currently in the process of understanding censorship law. Each individual has their specific case, so it is differing in circumstance; I don't want to expose or disclose their situations on here. There are "lawful censorship", where users are posting images/material of others without their consent. This is where censorship should be enacted, so that users rights aren't violated.
