i think the best thing about learning botany (plant identification and all) is just how much brighter the world seems. Its like you've got a new lens over your glasses where every little thing growing on the ground is a friend and a fellow organism living its life just like you are. I pass by some roadside "weeds" and point to it exclaiming like i'm reconnecting with an old bff.... so fun :)
the world is so much bigger and more complex and interconnected than you could imagine! learn about your local botany because learning about the world around you is one of the greatest joys you can experience
That's exactly how I feel about learning about birds! It's such a beautiful thing to realize that every single organism lives its own life, and yet they're all connected and influence each other
thats how i felt learning about palentology! i see a horsetail on the side of the road & go "your bazillion-great grandparent got munched on by a stegosaurus"
